Knowing it's a remake kind of makes me like the commercial a bit more for me. Gives it a link to Toyota's past.

Well I'm in the exact same boat as you. I wanted the new Supra, saw the result, was not impressed. But it didn't matter, as I'm in the 15 year trickle down used sports car market lol. You 10-year guys are too rich for my blood

Is it tho? That's a huge price delta, the FRS-BRZ's were much closer priced. I'm sure Toyota mechanics are competent but I'd much rather go to a mechanic who's been working on the platform for years, has all the specialized tools and knows what to do when xxx breaks. The toyota guy will be mostly lost...
Yep. You can search and see the MSRP for the Supra is just under $50k, and the 6 cylinder Z4 MSRP is $64,695.
Meh, all cars have some form of VVT, many have DI and turbo's, other than needing something dumb like 7.8mm star socket (obviously made up) I'm sure a modern, trained dealership Toyota mechanic can handle any normal repairs on a BMW I6.

OK, who else tried to figure out if 7.8 mm worked out to a common inch fraction?

It might to some. A lot people want a Toyota because of the reputation for reliability and ease of maintenance (whether that is true or not is a separate topic), something modern BMWs are not exactly famous for.
I know someone who bought a SAAB 9-7 because he wanted a moderately large SUV and didn't want to be seen in his subdivision with a non-European vehicle.

Why deal with all the warts of a BMW, but buy it from a Toyota dealer who doesn't have the knowledge of the platform to service it?
Because it's $15k cheaper?
I'm pretty sure a Toyota mechanic is perfectly capable of replacing leaking oil seals just like a BMW mechanic.
.... This reminds me! A friend of mine was a Toyota dealer tech and got to replace the engine in an E90 (I think; definitely post-E46) because nobody else in the company wanted to try working on a BMW...

I'm interested in how long Toyota branded parts will hold out for.
There's been issues in the past with other reskinned vehicles where one of the partners lists the item as NLA and there isn't a readily available cross reference to the other partner. Probably not as huge of a problem in this case as I suspect the aftermarket is going to address much of that.
Go on and try to order coolant tubes for a Jag S-type. Not available from Jag, and if you go to Ford, when you give them the Jaguar VIN they will politely tell you to go berk yourself. No, they won't order by model, it's VIN or nothing.
(Say, did you know that eBay auctions for, say for instance, a 3.9l Lincoln LS, will often list the VIN?)

This made it better, but they still put the Who in it. That makes it for Boomers, and I'm not touching it. Boomers ruined everything.
