Back in 70-71, I saw a 283 corvette powered bugeye at the local VW dealership. It had a hole in the bonnett with a big scoop sticking out.

There's a guy in Minnesota who has a Triumph TR6 with a turbocharged Pontiac V8. I just saw it again a few weeks ago at a car show, it's a pretty nice build. http://www.britishv8.org/triumph/edolson.htm

This might be what you are talking about. Sweet build, but I think due to reliability and weight and packaging issues he is now running an american v8.
