Just wanted to share as this thing was cool. Not a "real" hardcore off road vehical. More of a shopping mall curser but still really cool.

Wat? What year is that? I am not well-versed in status symbols.
It's a Defender. They don't change much. In fact, I believe those doors will bolt on to my 1966 Series IIa along with a number of other components. Direct descendant of the original Series II from the late 50's. They're very competent off-road, actually.
To be here legally, it's either 25 years old or it's a 1995 (if memory serves). It's not that old, so I'll bet it's a 1960's "Series" truck on the paperwork. You can still get them new in the UK, although not for much longer.
Are those not the Rovers that got in all the trouble with Homeland security SWAT teaming the owners houses and confiscating the vehicles?

Isnt it brilliant that the 25 year rule allows only 25 year-old (possibly unsafe polluters) on the US roadways?
you could get the Defender new from Rover here in the US for a short while. Now they go for silly money

I believe the idea was these "old cars" wouldn't get driven much and would be bought by mostly by collectors etc.
Very cool, what motor? I used to know a guy with a "newer" 95 I guess stock one with the little diesel and manual I always thought it them be the ultimate zombie vehicle
I got all excited about importing a Defender 110 when I saw a) what genuine 1993 sold here as new ones were worth and b) that there is an exemption for importing 1993 (not 92 or 94's) as they did sell the 93 here. I soon found it was a pipe dream. First unlike the 25 year rule you can't import one on your own. It has to be through an EPA recognized importer who has to do the required work to it. Second, people in Europe know that 1993 Defender 110's can be imported to the US so tend to be advertised as such on e-bay as they want to sell to Land Rover hungry Americans. Third, a legally imported 93 Defender is not worth as much as an originally sold here new 93 Defender. After a couple of weeks research my hopes of getting rich importing and selling Defenders went out the window.
The interior on that one looks more modern than 93. My bet is it's riding on a 25+ year old vin and the vin on the dash doesn't match the vin on the chassis. One guy had an accident in a re-Vin'd Defender 110 and had the claim denied when it was found to be a newer vehicle with an old Vin on the dash. He was then responsible for all damage to his and the other car out of his own pocket.

I did not look at the motor but it sounded like an LS variant of some sort that was moderately uncorked. Had that nasty rasp of a corvette with a borla system on it. Sounded REALLY nasty (in a good way)
The funny part was it was keeping British car building tradition alive as it was leaking gear oil from the center transfer case LOL.
I don't know the history on this one but I believe that this one is registered as an 80's car that some company out in Nevada takes and completely rebuilds and customizes everything on them. They are then sold as new trucks. Hell it may not even be a Land rover chaise for all I know. It may be registered as a GM Truck that just as a land rover body on it. They also do broncos and a couple other SUV/Truck's if I remember. Mostly for the uber rich that want a Vegas strip / mall vehicle.
What it needs is skid plates, a winch and the lights all frenched in to the body and add trail rated fount and rear bumpers. Then it would make a decent off road vehicle. Not hard core rock craller lets drive over boulders type truck but a good weekend warrior off road camping etc type truck. I would definitely rock that!!!!!
Still as it sits it is a cool vehicle that I would not mind in my driveway!!!!
1994 Defender Interior
OP Defender Interior. Kinda looks the same. Then again, as Keith mentioned, they might have the same interior for the entire production run!
Defenders are expedition vehicles. Just like every Jeep owner wants to be ready to take on Hells Revenge in Moab on a moment's notice, every Rover owner needs to be prepared for an overland safari. Lots of roof tents.

If that's the case it's way cool, whats the name of this Nevada company so I can look them up. Something else to spend my imaginary lotto winnings on.

ICON does the ridiculously priced Bronco & FJ40 Restomods, they're in California though. They're who I thought Dean was talking about, but they don't list any Land Rovers on their site.

I knew a guy that had one. He was a cadet at Maine Maritime Academy. During the worst Maine blizzard in xxx years, all roads closed, etc., he and a bunch of the cadets took it into town for pizza.

Could be them. They will do any vehicle (4x4 type truck) you want just bring the $$$$$$$. I really don't know for sure. I thought it was Nevada but could have been California. I saw a program about them on the wealth channel a while back. They will build to order. They had a land rover and a hummer H2 as well as several other vehicles that they had completely re done
I think the proper term should be "remanufactured" as they are for all intensive purposes new vehicles. The vin date is really irrelevant. Kind of like what happens when Foose does over a 67 Camaro. I mean is it really a "67" any more?

Why my wife wanted an H2 I think. I mean it is fun to drive around in a blizzard just for the fun of it rite? LOL

Many Many cows contributed to the interior in the one I posted. The interior was absolutely fantastic. All custom stitched stuff. Very well done.
