I mean why would you do this??
If the price was right, I like it. With LS power and sound and body completed "correctly" it could be really sweet!

That's probably when he started that project.
I'll try to dig some pics up. A local guy had an aluminum headed 302 swapped Miata, nitrous and that body kit. It was a very odd car, and kind of a sleeper (this was back in 1999-2000). I remember walking by it thinking it was a Z3, and then noticing the seats said 'miata'. It was yellow, and had BM WHAT vanity plates.

There's an entire segment of the country that now omits "to be" when speaking in future tense. I've noticed this has spread in the last 3-4 years and it drives me crazy.
That being said, this is the sort of thing you'd expect to see at a lemons race. Someone offer him $500 for it!
A slower, uglier copy of a car is not worth as much as the car it's mimicking. He's got a $1000 or so car there.

Because you can buy an ACTUAL, real, running Z3 for the same money and much less effort?
I admit . . . I absolutely LOVE it ! What a cool idea. A car that looks sharp as Hell but never breaks down, terrific on gas and tough as nails.
Buy it for half price or less, finish it up right, paint it Anthracite Gray, already has a black canvas top.
The PERFECT car for any high school aged girl, just NEVER let on that it a fake. When she goes off to college, freshen it up for your wife. When she get's tired of it, go auto-crossing.
That thing has nine lives and will keep on giving forever. You daughter may well want it back when she gets out of school and starts her career as a great (and stylish) commuter car.
In the end, paint it Hunter Green, a tan canvas top this time, and it you're retirement ride.
You'd NEVER get this kind of reliability and service out of a real Z3. The side mirrors would fall off on the way home from the showroom.
Well I guess I'm not qualified to talk with my Jamaican-MG, but I'd rather have a sleeper BMW ZM underneath a stock looking Miata body!
Everyone always seems to take a modest/boring car and try to make it look like it is something it isn't with a snazzy body - Fieros with Fiero interiors and Countach bodies are just plain sad.
OTOH, there are some rebodies I covet. The Ferrari GTO on a Datsun 240Z is just killer!
This is a 240Z with such a body. Interestingly, rather than sticking in a Chev V8, they used a Toyota V8! Take a look - kind of neat.
