I'm heading to Ft. Wayne and Indy next week. Just three days. But Tuesday I can get to the Auburn Cord museum.
I've been to the National Auto museum in Reno, the Lane in TN, as well as other cool places like the tar pits in LA.

I just got home from a run to Muncie. The customer I met grew up in Indy and had a lot of racing in her past and we spent some time talking about racing. So if only cool places when I travel but I find most everyone in Indianapolis wants to talk racing - same with other areas.

I'm going to LA at the end of this month and Vegas in November. But I'll be too busy to have any fun either time.

I too went to ACD Museum while "working".

My best "work" trip was to be in Palm Desert for 3 days (T,W,Th)
It was expected that I would fly Mon-Day so as to be there Mon-Night and then be ready for meeting Tues-Morn. The event included a dinner Thur-Night so Fri-Day was expected to be travel day.

Instead, I made the Thursday and Friday before vacation days. On that Thurday, I flew to Long Beach, CA where I was picked up by a sailing buddy. We then went to his boat in Long Beach and spent the rest of the day sailing to Newport Beach, CA. Over the weekend, did a sailboat race from Newport Beach, CA to Ensanada, MX. Made it back to San Diego, CA by boat on Monday. From the marina I took a cab to the airport to pick up a company paid rental car. Drove that car up to Palm Desert.
Done with sales conference on Fri-morn. Drove rental back to San Diego and raced different sailboats Fri-night, Sat and Sun around San Diego. Took the red-eye home Sun-night.

Awesome trip.

On my way out, since I was getting right onto a Sailboat, I had Fed Ex'ed my laptop and dress clothes to the conference hotel. When I was done with the conference, I Fed Ex'ed those items back to Ohio to meet me monday and then got back on a sailboat.

I think this was 2006.

I also had a conference in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is really two weekends. This conference was the week between the two weekends! Same travel day expectations as listed above.

I arrived the Saturday before the meeting and left the Sunday after the meeting. I stayed with a sister the weekend before and a sailing buddy the weekend after. I tell ya, 10 days of Mardi Gras! I am really not sure how I did not die on this trip. The sailing buddy owned a B&B right off Bourbon St. (Ursuline St.) Yeah, we were in the heart of it all!

I have to travel to Toronto regularly, so my travel "benefit" tends to consist of trying poutine in as many different restaurants as possible.

Some places I've been while traveling for work: Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Singapore, Djibouti, Bahrain, Egypt, Gibraltar, England, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Israel, Panama, Venezuela, Bangladesh, Krakatoa (didn't stop,) The Phillipines, Japan, Guam (OK, that's US,) Diego Garcia (SHUUUSHHHH), Saudi Arabia, Brunai, Indonesia, New York (that's gotta be some kind of foreign country,) Florida, Canada (it's like a whole other planet, especially the "French" parts.) More. I'm kinda done traveling for work. The thrill is gone.

The inside of a warehouse in Honolulu looks just like the ones in Yuma, Ft. Bragg and Pensacola.

"Ooooo.... you're so lucky, you get to travel for work."

Oy, try it.

I spent three weeks in paris for work. I had 1 day to go exploring.. Most of the time I was going somewhere or doing a report.

I did do one trip around the world once.. CT to Germany to Japan to S. Korea to Singapore to Home in 11 days. It was cool due to the speed and pace, but damn if I didn't have day to enjoy anything.

Ha ha ha. I used go to Denver for a 3 day sales meeting. Everyone said that was cool to me. Three days in a Holiday Inn Express Conference room. One decent dinner one night at The Lodge.

The boss said to come out early, which I did once and did some fly fishing but when you travel for work another two nights on the road doesn't go over well with the family.

I did a UNITAS cruise for the Navy, left South Carolina and headed down the right coast of Panama, and South America. Brazil, Uraguay, Paraguay, ,through the Straits of Megellan and up the left side, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela; good times on the Gov't dime, would I do it now?

Probably not. I will say being light haired with blue eyed gets a LOT of attention from the local girls.

I was in Miami, South Beach, specifically, for work. I didn't like it at all. The conference decided to put half the meals outside, so I got to spend time with the sweaty variety of nerd for half the day. There was a serious exotic car presence, so that was a thing.

On the other hand, work sent me to a week long class in Madison Wisconsin at the end of September. The city was beautiful. It was a week of cheese curds, fancy beer, and riding around on rental bicycles. Best work trip ever.

Just got back from a week in Indy for work. I flew out a day early and was able to watch the Motogp race. Holy hell are those bikes bad fast!! Got to meet Colin Edwards before the race and thought that was pretty cool.

Our company's plant is maybe a mile away from the Andretti Autosport and Chip Ganassi shops. A few of us decided to stop by the shops to see if we could see anything. Worst they could say was get the f$@! out! It turned out there was tire testing at the speedway that day, so Ganassi was empty with no one there. Went to andretti's shop, lobby was open, lots of cool trophies and cars on display, and the receptionist who looked pretty board. She offered us a full tour of the shop.

The shop was awesome. It was fairly empty since the teams were out testing, but lots of cool parts and torn down race cars sitting around. Indy cars, Mazda open wheel cars, the global rally cross cars, etc.. While she was taking us through the shop there was a row of 3-4 midget dirt track cars. When I asked her about them she said they were John Andretti's son's cars and that John keeps me there sometimes. As we got close to the last midget, we saw that someone was working on it........It was John Andretti!!

His hand were covered in grease and he was really getting to work. We talked to him for a few minutes, super nice guy, said he was getting the car ready for his son's next race. I think he was just surprised we recognized him while turning wrenches. Took a few pictures with him and let him get back to work.

Definitely one of the better work trips. I figure if I'm going halfway across the country I might as well see a few things while here!
