Thanks to Supercar Sensation in Charlotte I've had the chance to flog my first exotic cars this year - an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Porsche 997 Turbo, Audi R8, Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari 360.

The Ferrari may be fragile, but the driving experience is just so good. The R8 is stunning from every angle and makes great noises. The Gallardo is a little disappointing in that it wasn't better in any significant way than its less expensive sister, the R8. The Porsche was stupendously fast, but otherwise felt so... ordinary. The Aston was just as disappointing to drive as it was pretty to look at.

All in all, my favorite car was the Ferrari 360. The handling, the sounds, the looks, the heritage and prestige - what a package! I can only imagine that its replacements the F430 and 458 are that much better. However the R8 is also amazing and, at half the price of a new Ferrari, a steal.

This, a plain Ford GT, or the 8c came to mind but I think I'd go with the Caparo T1. I've always wanted to feel 3g.

458 Italia, or Gallardo Superleggara. I am a big fan of 200mph Bentlys, but nothing British/German can be a true Exotic Car IMHO. A supercar yes, but only the Italians make true exotics.

RaceCar Replicas Porsche 917 replica, stuffed full of Corvette ZR-1 LS9. just sayin...

as far as cars I don't have the option of putting together myself, Alfa 8C, Pagani Zonda R, Ferrari 458 Italia (and a fire extinguisher), or perhaps even a Bugatti Veyron Supersport. yes, I do know how heavy it is, but 1200 horsepower and 266mph in a factory produced car that can still be driven on the street, that still has windshield wipers and headlights and a functional sound system (other than the W16, of course) is damned impressive, and it DID dip into the 1:16" range at the TG test track...

Then, it follows, what's the criteria you use for a true exotic? What would you consider, for example, a Bugatti, current or in the 1930s-40s. Don't misconstrue, I'm not being argumentative, just simply wondering. what's a true exotic. Thanks

I know, the new ones will probably not see a speck of dirt in their lifetimes and it's based on the F430.

I still want one. Badly.

So, using that, then a Fiat 4 door is an exotic, since it's Italian.

I think I'd go for a Wiesmann. Dunno whether it would be a roadster or fastback, or which engine, Bmw 6, 8, or 10 cylinder.

They're a German blend of Aero 8/Big Healey/Marcos.

Acura NSX is as exotic as I'd go since they have to be maintained, too.

25 may be built, line forms behind me. Now where is that dying, rich relative..... Yeah, thought about it. It is the ONE I'd buy. And I'd drive the snot out of it. Even with the maintenance bills, it'd be worth it.

Can you guys block this and the other exotic thread for my PC? Thanks. I can't look at them anymore. Either that or you can transfer a few hundred grand into my bank account. That would probably work even better. Thanks!

Having four legs doesn't make it a dog.

By that measure, though, a BMW M1 can be an exotic, since it's Italian too.

Maintenance? I thought you were supposed to throw away exotic cars after the first mechanical problem, or six months.

Where's the thread with all the pictures from the UAE of all of the not-very-old exotics and Rolls and such all covered with dust and tarps and dings/dents/scratches because they don't have any value anymore because they aren't new?

Does the car have to be a street car, or can it be a race car?

V12 Vantage will be my first lottery car. It will share the garage with a GT3 RS, 458 Italia, and a CLS63 AMG Brabus Rocket S. The barn will contain the low-buck stuff.

This was at the peak of the (last) gas cost spike, and he had his 8 mpg window sticker with him - which he thought was hilarious. But since the original question was "what new exotic", I'd go for an Alfa 8C. It sounds as good as it looks. And it looks goooooood. For track use, 911 GT3 RS in orange. But it's not as exotic as a limited production, gorgeous Alfa Romeo.

+100,000,000,000 well, there aren't really enough zeros.

The Alfa reminds me of this, which is reeeeaally exotic, since I think there is only one out there...

I really wasn't that impressed by the Ferrari 599 GTB. It looked big and awkward. I also didn't dig the Audi R8. It is worse in real life then in pictures.
