And here's a V8 Chevy Lumina
Given how horrible the stock 3.7L is, it really isn't surprising other than the Chevy part, but I suspect those are easier to get than a Mopar.
And here's a Ford Windstar with a BMW Turbo Diesel from a 1985 Continental. 1999 Ford Windstar Turbo Diesel

Steve and Vince were building one of these weren't they?
Once found a 1998 Integra GS-R sedan with a D15 swap on craigslist. I have no idea why the owner did such a thing, but drugs had to have been involved.

I heard about an old guy in the rustbelt who bought an Eagle Talon TSi AWD as a replacement for his 4WD AMC Eagle. He bought it only for the AWD. The engine on the TSi blew and he balked at the cost of a replacement. The mechanic offered to swap in an NA 4G63 to save some money. Thus, he had the only non-turbo AWD DSM.

I swear I've seen one on Craigslist as well. I have to imagine cost was the only motivation.
The Lumina and Liberty are just bizarre though

It's more common than you think. Car is stolen, drivetrain is yanked. D15's are about $5 with a trans and ECU and bolts in.
At one time, the GSR and Type R were the most stolen vehicle in NA.

Still seems like dropping in a non-VTEC B18 would be cheaper to swap in than a D15

Just who exactly is the target audience for something like this. It seems like the answer to a question nobody asked.
