Funny little random story. July 2007. "DCMAX" Mid-Atlantic Nissan Maxima meet in Rock Creek Park, DC. Bunch of us dorks with modded-out maximas cruising to the meetup at a reserved lot. Probably 10 of us or so, probably going too fast in the park. We get there, park, and then the last one in the group gets pulled over: 
Cop then comes over and says "I want the drivers of the other 9 cars that just drove up to come up here. Else we'll revoke the lot permit and all 50+ cars here can leave now." 
We come over, chat a bit with him, and he tells us his supervisor is in the other car so he can't just let us off, so he writes us all write-in tickets for $10 for "excessive speed." Everyone is ok with that (for the most part). Then he proceeds to hang out at the lot for 2 hours talking about cars, telling us about how he races demolition-derby cars and such. Everyone in the group is kind of chuckling at the thought of him doing demo-derby in some old POS car. Nothing like these HARDCORE MAXIMA TUNERZ and their bling wheels and NAWZ....hahaa... Everyone is also a bit nervous having this cop poking around cars, many of which have big turbos, or big NOS bottles, limo tint, or other questionably-legal "mods" *(including my own) but he's cool with it all. He eats a hot dog off the grill and chats some more.

Then leaves. Hour later, shows back up. Coming through the woods on a motocross-style police motorcyle. Hangs out of another hour. Has to roll, but says "next time, call me ahead of time and I'll give you an escort in (to make sure you don't speed)" 
he periodically in the next year or so comes on the maxima forum to talk a bit of smack using the name "speedycop", and then moves on. At the time none of us (including me) knew about LeMons or cared about crapcan racing or thought he was anything more than some cop trying to act cool around some import tuner types. Of course now we all know how legit he is and how cool his stories and causes are. Hopefully I'll get to say hi next year if I run LeMons as hoped. Anyhow, random story.........couldn't think of anyplace else worth sharing other than here on GRM>...
