Folks,
Looking for a Web file that had shop drawings for installing the standard Japanese rear diff in a Spitfire/GT6 frame.
Pretty sure I saw the drawings/sketches/file here.
Any help is appreciated.
TIA,
Rog

The problem is that the stock Spitfire uses the inner stub axles as the pivot point for the swing axles. This means the axles are constantly trying to 'pull themselves out of the diff. Triumph got around that with a radial ball bearing/snap ring setu, but the Datsun diff is not set up that way, except for some of the very early ones and that was sorta by mistake. It's not really meant for that and the stub axles won't work with the later limited slips available in Subarus etc. unless you do a good bit of machine work.
So to do this and to do it properly, you'll need an upper and lower control arm. It can be done with GT6 Rotoflex axles and lower control arms and a Spit or GT6 transverse spring, but now you have all the way less than ideal camber curve weirdness of the GT6 setup.
And that's why I tossed that idea out the window and built a true short/long arm rear suspension for the Abomination (my rotary E Mod Spitfire). I can post or Email some pics of how I built mine.
Folks,
Jensenman clarified the situation. My car has Rotoflex with SLA control arms and coilovers. Lateral loading on the stub axles is minimal and has not caused any problems over the past 10 years. (Approx).
Thanks to all for the inputs.
