Hi Everyone- I am working on buying a twin turbo Mercedes M104 motor for my W124 wagon. The engine originally came from Australia and is using a version of Microtech stand alone EFI. Microtech is an Australian brand. The current owner mentioned that the wiring of the system is sloppy and should be cleaned up. The original turbo technics twin turbo that this engine is based on used the stock benz wiring with an added a extra injector plumbed in.
I don't have any experience with stand alone injection so I am trying to get all the info that I can now. I am wondering how different Microtech is from say megaquirt or the common brands over here?
I am located in Fairfield county in CT. Does anyone have any recommendations for tuners or people EFI tuning expertise in the greater NYC or New England area?
Thanks in advance
Can you get the tuning software, cables, wiring diagrams, etc.? Basically everything you need to figure out and tune the motor with the Microtech ECU?
You may want to ask Spencer Cox at SpeedSport Tuning. They're next to Danbury Airport on Mirey Brook Road.
I am not 100% sure how much or little is included with the sale.
Thanks for the tip Woody. I am not far from there.
Efilogics in Bethel is another good tuning shop in the area...
SpeedSport is a very impressive place. In addition to working on run of the mill European sport sedans and new Porsche race cars, his shop is pretty much the place east of the Mississippi to bring your $100,000 Porsche four cam Furhrmann engine. The last time that I was there, there were seven four cams and a Porsche 906.
In reply to Woody:
I didn't know SEVEN of those engine still EXISTED east of the Mississippi.
Here is a video where you can see the microtech efi.

Hey I've got that exact same engine test stand. Except right now mine has a 401 nailhead buick engine and super turbine 400 trans.
If it's a modern-ish unit it'll be just fine. Good ecus.
