Make sure you use a marker or something to make the larger body panel appear to be smaller panels, and then rivets, the “gaps” between the small faux panels you make need so,e airbrushed shadowing to create an aged and stressed look. And don’t forget the rivets.

Not sure if sarcastic or.... lol

It can be cool, it can be overdone. We'll see what I decide.

I’m super cereal! Obviously, using a “marker” would be cheesy. But I couldn’t think of how else to describe making a fender into a bunch of smaller panels.

I know you said a predominantly black car with bronze or brass highlights. What about a dark bronze or copper colored car and accent Body Lines with highlights in turquoise or green to replicate corosion /patina?

You could just use real copper.

Suddenly I'm reminded of the AC Cobra with the body hand-formed out of sheets of bare copper.

I’m dying to take a torch to that copper and get that awesome “burnished” blue and purple effect.

Kinda blurs the lines between steampunk, Mad Max and rat rod, but the rivets following the character lines and bronze finishes are useful

If you did the grill up with copper tubing and maybe worked on the lights to look a little more industrial, it would really work

Ok! :) Was mostly in regard to the comment about the rivets: Can be cool, can be overdone. Some of these cars with rivets are looking pretty sick!

Neat idea, but the car's name has been Black Betty since before I owned it, I just don't think I could change that.

To me I steampunk theme is comprised of copper and brass with expose Mechanicals, gears, Etc. There is a picture floating around the internet of a steampunk modern Mini Cooper. It's basically a dark grey mini with copper metallic wrap on roof with trim and wheels painted copper. Google steampunk Mini Cooper pictures and you'll see what I'm talking about. Sorry but I can't post pics from my phone,

It may be more modern look then you're trying to achieve.

Perhaps steampunk isn't the best description of what I'm going for. My vision is kind of a mashup of steampunk, mad max, retro, modern. All ideas posted have had neat inspiration.
