Shame there isn't a class for them in the challenge.
That is awesome. You just don't see mid engine rails very often.
would love to build up something like that.
What engine is the frame set up for? A long time ago I saw a mid engine frame set up for the Ford 2.3 inline four engine. They could be built for a lot of HP as I recall. Do you know what manufactue made this frame? Very cool!

I can stand in the pushbar of my dad's fairly heavy VW based one, lift the front tires off the ground and walk it around like a cart. Come to think of it I think I'd probably front mount the battery too on one set up for any amount of street usage, maybe throw a spare tire up there as well, just to make the front grab a bit better.

You're welcome.
I have REALLY been wanting to build a rail myself here lately. I need to find out about making one street legal for here in Oregon. Where I live it is just a couple miles of back road for the most part until I am up in the hills. Some of the logging roads and stuff around here would be a blast in one of those.
There is actually one setup to look like an FAV not far from me that is a VW aircooled motor and comes with a trailer for challenge money.
I was hot to build a mid engine rail at one time, then my automotive ADHD sent me in another direction.
Going to bring this thread back up. I've been kicking around the idea of a street legal sand rail, so I browse CL, etc... Came across this on Ebay. I've never heard of them before, so I'd want a whole lot more info before plunking down that kind of cash, but it looks awesome.

By the looks, price, and "suzuki-clone engine" I'm betting they're Chinese made. I had a chinese go kart for a while that needed cage re-welds regularly. It was a ton of fun but the quality wasn't there.
From the clone motor, and the design of the front end, I'd agree it's probably Chinese. I've seen that front end design on all kinds of Chinese karts. We had a 110cc one for my son several years ago and it was a steaming pile. Like I said, I'd have a million questions about this before I spent that money...and if it were a Chinese pile I wouldn't buy it. But damn, if I could find a quality built one like that for a good price!
