I know these are run nearby here pretty regularly, and I'd love to be able to come take part. What background/training do you have to have to become an instructor?
I presume you also need a lot of other people to help with logistics and keeping things organized.
My half sister got into a car accident a few months back and totalled the car. I keep trying to pass information about these things to her dad and her.

I instructed at the one in Milwaukee a few weeks ago. I really respect the program. I had 2 students, one a girl, that had been driving for about a year I guess, and I felt I taught her some valuable things. Her Father is a "car guy" and was at the school the whole day, I think he had as much fun watching her. The other was a young guy, who just barely had his temps, good kid but WOW QUIET. I couldnt get real good feed back from him all day, until just about the end.
I agree that the semi truck there was an awesome part, I learned a lot from that myself. amazing what I thought they could see, and what they cant. "shudder"
Wowak Looks like Nashville is doing a TRSSS in September. We actually get more people from the ATL and NASH than we do our local area. Plus you cant discount the road trip with the kids.

The Delaware Valley BMWCCA does the regular kids program for "Official" Street Survival classes but also uses the same basic format for additional car control clinics that are open enrollment. For adults (well, and kids too) - auto-x is a good (probably better) substitute but SS is something marketed to parents. Parents who see auto-x as hoonage.
As far as qualifications - I am a HPDE instructor for a number of organizations including BMW CCA, NASA, PCA, etc. and a father of two boys who think they know everything.... I'd imagine if you can hold a decent angle around a skidpad and didn't look like a perv scamming a way to be close to 17yr old girls someone would find something for you to do :)

Hmm, wasn't on the schedule when I checked a few weeks ago. I'll look into volunteering.

Brian, come to the forum. There's info posted about the event, being held Sept 12. I'm helping with the course management and recruiting volunteers (wink wink, nudge nudge, knowhatimean knowhatimean). Wish you could come out and play with us in STS on Sundays too.
