street tir suggestions.

I need some sugestions for tires on my wifes grocery getter. It is a 4 door 2000 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder auto tragic so performance is not even on its radar screen.

What I want is a tire in 205/65/15 that is (in order of importance) quiet, good in the rain, inexpensive, about 50k miles wear would be nice as they will be about 5 years old at that point.

Tirerack lists about a million options in this size. Can any of you guys make any sugestions? I have access to a membership garage and the knowlege to use the mount and balance equipment so I dont want nor need to get them localy.

Falken Ziex ZE-912 is a good tire very close to the size you need.

Khumo is hard to beat although grocery getter tires dont require much technology.

I'm very partial to Kumho ASXs.

My wife has Kumho Soluses on her Accord. Her needs are exactly as you described. They only have about 10k on them now but they are so much better than the Michelins she had before.

Same price as the ASXes but last twice as long, well warrantied for twice as long (60k Solus vs. 30k ASX) anyway.

I've also been happy with the Falken ZE-912's as a street tire, but I think they are more performance oriented than what you're asking for. I wouldn't classify them as extra quiet, but not too noisy either. Don't know about 50K either.

The Yokohama AVID H4s look interesting as well.

To second bequietanddrive and Matt B's recommendation with a slight modification: I like the Falken ZE-512. I think they are a little cheaper than the ZE-912s. I have them on both a base model Impreza and the Miata and they work great.

A bit more coin than the midgrade Falkens, but I've had great success with Bridgestone G019s. Reasonable handling, and they absolutely LAUGH at rain.

I have the same Kumho tire on my appliance car, and report the same findings: worlds above the Michelins they replaced.
