I have a Volvo 850 T5 that I'm having issues with and is off the road as a result. The tranny goes into limp mode and it also stalls randomly at idle, which is less than helpful when driving Now I just want to fix it enough to sell it.

I replaced the tranny position switch as per this thread previously, but the problem didn't go away. Then it threw the throttle position sensor code again, so I replaced it as well, as this can apparently cause the issue as well.

Does the hive have any further ideas on what may cause this? Could it be a bad ECU? Or is there perhaps a common electrical connection that may be faulty? I'm debating how much effort and $'s to put into fixing this as all I really want is for it to be gone and the space on my driveway free. Then I can look at getting some other project...

Suggestions please.

My experience with Volvo gremlins it to sell it real cheap and be money ahead. I looked at my limping Volvo for a year deciding what to do, then one day it started and ran great, so it went immediately to the front yard and on CL. Gave the new owner a cheap car with full disclosure, and we both had a good day.

AFAIK, there is no limp mode with that transmission, though there are multiple ways they do fail.

If you hate the car and don't want to put any effort or money into fixing it, sell it off as is.
