So I've been continuing my research on the Renault as I start to fix it up and order stuff and I came across some interesting info: the stock Ronal R8 wheels, which are 15x6, weigh a whopping 18.5 lbs. That is a LUDICROUS weight for a 15x6 wheel! Given, they are probably indestructible when used as rally wheels, but that makes me wonder just how much better the car would drive with a lighter set of wheels on it.
It seems like your typical aftermarket 15x7 is about 15 lbs these days, which is an improvement but nothing revolutionary. I know your typical Miata 6ULs and what-not are closer to 10 lbs...but I just don't think they would look right on an 80's French box on wheels. I love the look of Zender Sports and your typical BBS RA's, but they're barely lighter than the wheels coming off! Something like SSR Formula Mesh, XR4 Longchamps, Enkei Apache IIs, Sakura Blossoms etc would be AWESOME if they were just a bit lighter. It just seems like every wheel under, say, 14 lbs is an ultra-modern looking curvy and spindly design that would look 100% wrong on the old GTA.
So, GRM, are there any sweet old-school JDM/Euro 15x7 4x100 wheels that are reasonably light?
