The 4th

Preparation for the 4th is just about done. 

I'm working. I'll try to remember to put the flag out on my way out the door. 

My 4th prep. was driving 18 hours so my wife can spend her birthday, the 4th with her daughter. I really don't mind at all. 

Happy 4th!  Let's celebrate the birthday of the greatest country to ever be.

And always remember, freedom isn't free.

I hope those of us living the dream take a moment to reflect on the risks & sacrifices our forebears made to create our great nation and the true nature of what today means. I know I will.

Nothing says 4th of July like wandering through the LKQ. SWMBO was very proud of her Suzuki grille hood prop that she created!

Have a good (and Covid safe) celebration.

Had to laugh once when some Americans were visiting here (Canada) on July 4 and asked when the fireworks were going to be. Had to lead them through the whole "What is the celebration about?"  "Independence!"  "From whom?"  "British Empire?"  "Yup - can you think of any reason why we wouldn't need to celebrate that here?   (ironically in British Columbia)?  

I understand Brits call the 4th Thanksgiving Day.

I'm going to relish in the news of 2021 Fourth of July BBQ's being $ 0.16 cheaper than 2020 Fourth of July BBQ's. I may slice the onion a little thicker and add an extra dollop of ketchup on the burgers and dogs. 

Happy Fourth of July folks, please keep in mind what it really means.

Last night my wife slipped on water the grandchildren dropped in front of the refrigerator.  She's in a cast for her wrist.
      So I'm her servant.  Meanwhile  the fireworks are about to start and Ive got to get SWMBO ready.

Sorry For the blurry picture. Fireworks going on all around me and SWMBO wanted different anchorage with every third fireworks. I just realized the finale was going on when I tried to get a picture.

My 4ths are busy but they are the right kind of busy..

We did our annual Family 4th of July get-together for the first time since 2019. Lots of hanging out, catching up, food, boats, and swimming. It was an outstanding weekend. Edit to add, there are 4 generations in the water in that shot. From 3 years old to 84.

To me that's what the 4th celebration should be. Family, friends, water, and boating.
