Question in my mind is going to be what would Kia's strategy be?

Seems that Hyundai is taking the higher end, more expensive car approach. Kia is pushing forward using the formula that Hyundai started with....build quality imitations of class leading cars and price them thousands less. Just look at the older Sonatas, Elantras, etc... They were never "best in class", but they were good solid values. They even looked like the competition...the previous Sonata looked just like an Accord, especially from the back. Combined with huge warranties, that made them very successful.

So if Kia builds a knock off of the Miata that has 8/10th the performance and is priced a lot lower, I think the general public will snap it up.

as long as the PS doesn't have the same weirdness of my forte, I'D snap one up exactly like that.

I'd rather a S2k or a Solstice GXP over a Miata any day. Shun me but I don't care, they're both more fun to drive.

I am a Miata driver, and I love the car. But I do not disagree with you. The Solstice loses because of the aforementioned lack of storage space; the S2k because they aren't as cheap or plentiful as Miata's.

I expect I'll be in an S2000 eventually, but the Miata is the best bang for the buck DD/fun car/autocrosser for a college student.

I wouldn't take a Solstice over a Miata, i find them hideous-looking.

Now... a Sky Redline. Maybe. MAYBE. But i think i'd still take the Miata.

S2000 vs. Miata would be a rough decision for me. Can i have both?

I tend to prefer cheaper cars because then i don't feel bad doing to them what i tend to do. But the S2000 is just so.... awesome.

The biggest complaint I have heard is that Barbie doesn't have enough room for her golf clubs.

theres a new car company called Mia- they shared the demographics group that our korean company was using which is absolutely confused as to why they are having such a difficult time appealing to the military.

So, say they did buy the kappa tooling from GM. Now imagine a remake of the ultra-rare solstice coupe gxp but this time with the 2.0 from the gc. Isn't it basically a 4g63 Mitsubishi motor? Imagine the silly power that could be made.

i'd rather the 2.4 GDI in the lower end optima that makes 200hp and let us add our own turbo afterward. or maybe the 275hp 2.0t GDI could be the higher trim. they're all variations on the same (theta) motor.

I have just the thing for the front-end styling:

Kia has the engines to make that really interesting, they just need some chassis-tuning lessons.

Honestly if they made it cheap enough and it was FWD I wouldn't mind. I would prefer RWD but to me it won't matter to much if it is lightweight and cheap. That being said if I had the money laying around to buy a convertible, I would just buy a MG T-series or Triumph TR6.

It's kindof a 4b11 a la Evo. But with a different head and a bottom end not as strong.

Yeah, Mitsu, Hyundai, and Chrysler co-developed the bottom end of what Mitsu calls the 4B11. A variant was also used in the Caliber SRT-4.
