I suppose by modern sport bike standards it isn't all that fast but anything that can do the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds flat isn't exactly pokey.

Exactly and it's a porker, so once it's out of shape you ain't ras-lin it back from the brink.

I hear you, my trade was a Suzuki 300 putt putt bike for a FZ1. I survived a year without crashing, but many close calls told me to get something different. The FJR1300 that replaced it was almost as fast, but more of a touring bike. It got traded on a 6.0 GTO 6 speed and I just smile when I think of my bike riding days and that I am still alive
