I know GRM has done these articles in the past, but I want to see your junkyard upgrades. They could be a new set of wheel covers, or a 5.3 with the turbo from a Cummins ram strapped to it.
Here's my junkyard upgrade. The g-body has a fuel door that stays down only if you wedge the gas cap between two tabs in the fuel door. The b-body has a fuel door that goes down, and stays down. The b-body setup bolts onto a g-body. Result: $5 later, some sanding, and some paint, and you have a perfect fuel door, complete with bolts!
Ill bite as most my "performance" parts come from the junkyard. 90s model 4x4 s10/blazer, silverado/suburban front shocks are bilsteins and make a great upgrade rear shock for lowered redblock powered volvos. Btw gbodyman I want to say they fit in the fron of your car too, but you can use circle track parts too. Also jeep grand cherokee steering boxes fit in lots of older American cars and makes them a) quicker ratio and b) probably isnt leaking and whining. Once I bought for big brembo calipers off a sentra ser spec v and they bolt onto 4 lug nissan 240sx, so thays a pretty awesome upgrade. Also finding bigger injectors from other cars is great, I can find anything from 200cc/min to 1200cc/min in the junkyard. Obviously the list goes on and on. I think this could be a good thread.

Isn't that the best place to get performance parts?
Borla exhaust for my x type

Old parts catalogs can be useful for this sort of thing, if you come across them at swap meets or on eBay. I have an old Monroe shock absorber catalog and a TRW suspension catalog, and have been able to cross reference a number of parts from common cars to less common cars.
The Grand Cherokee steering box swap is a good one, a lot of guys are using them on older GM A and B body cars.

That also works for the G-bodies. I probably won't attempt it, mainly because I'm broke.
for S10 guys, the 2wd 95+ blazers have the same large sway bars as the ZQ8 package trucks.
My most recent was this minty fresh Camaro seat upgrade for my racing rig.
Over the years I've scored tons of suspension upgrades, cool steering wheels, exhaust systems, body parts and you name it. Usually for pennies on the dollar.
My most recent score was a lip from an older chevy truck that I am turning into a splitter for my Z. Other than that not much besides parts to keep the thing running.
Not nearly as cool as matching parts to different makes and models, but I just snagged a K&N filter for $2.99

What can you find in junkyard that has 1200 cc/min injectors??

Nice!
I snagged the windshield fold-down hardware for my Samurai off an old SJ-410.
Wagoneer edition XJ Cherokees came with Dana 44 rears and you can use the YJ Wrangler flexible brake lines to get more axle droop (without overextending the lines).
ONE TON GM drivetrains bolts into 1/2 Ton pickups and K5 Blazers using combo u-joints.
Durango steering box in an XJ Cherokee. Neon injectors in an XJ cherokee. 00-01 Xj cherokee intake manifold on your earlier year.
XJ Cherokee "bastard pack" rear leafs.
Grand cherokee rear disc brake conversion on your 8.25" Chryco rear end-equipped XJ Cherokee.
Grand Cherokee seats in your XJ Cherokee.
A lot of XJ stuff in here. Keep it up!

Propane powered 2v 4.6l fords. Powder blue tops.
When I blew up the rear end in my Cobra (the first time ), the aluminum center section was $$$$ from Ford. Even the junkyards were $400+. After a little internet sleuthing, I found the Lincoln MKVIII LSC differential case was the same part. I sourced one on car-parts.com. The yard I went to had the entire IRS assembly so I picked up a spare set of half shafts as well. Total cost: $200 OTD
I thought this would be about some "male enhancement" for me. Disappointed!

Your partner might have been more dissappointed than you...

Swank is all over the "Grande"!
Thanks for reminding me I need to go liberate some rear disc brakes from a ZJ grand Cherokee for the Barracuda.
The best upgrade I got was a complete S5 RX-7 turbo engine (including turbo, wiring harness, etc) for my '88 TII out of a GSL-SE. I'd almost rather have seen the completed turbo FB car.
At a local junkyard, I found a complete, brand new set of OEM brake pads for my Neon in the trunk of a junker. That car went to the scrapper due to a front end collision, guess they should have put the pads on sooner.

Late 90s/early 00s Buicks and Oldnsmobiles have under chin pieces that are great for this.

Here we can no longer go into the yard itself and scavenge/daydream. Have to order parts at the counter just like going to a normal parts store.
