As always, when something (a website?) changes, there are good and bad points.
I'm glad the "search" function is back, but not having tried it yet I hope it isn't like the last time the mag changed servers. That is, all topics that weren't currently active were "lost" to being searched in the changeover.
NOT so glad? Well, it was so much easier to "jump" from one section of the forum to another (for example: off topic to grassroots motorsports to 2011 ads). Unless I missed something?
No changes were made to this site other than the re-introduction of a (working) search function. All the navigation and shortcuts will remain the same for now.
That said, there were some unintended consequences. We're working (now) to get it all working again on the new server. As always, thank you for your patience.
site page wouldn't load for me until around 3:30 am, I kept getting timed out page, then it was slow, appears to be working now, glad it's back up, good work GRM

You guys are the lucky ones. There are many locations (our office included) that haven't had the DNS refresh yet, and users there are treated to a lovely error page when trying to get online.
I am less then enthused by the way this has gone so far, but I'm glad some users are having better luck.
It was down for at least 10 hrs that I know of here. Back OK now.
does seem a little slow for me, but it may just be my connx

Hope you weren't up all night, Tom.
The mobile site seems out for now as well. Obviously lower priority but just fyi if you weren't aware yet.

Not quite all night. I lost my temper and freaked out around midnight, then stewed on it until about 3:30 when I saw people started to trickle back in. I slept on the promises that it would all be better in the morning, but I'm not really any more satisfied now.
My peak use time (right around 7pm Eastern) it was down. I had a very big sad.
was down for me until maybe a half hour ago...I now haz a bucket
Is it agonizingly slow for anyone else?
For instance it took 3 minutes to open this thread, click reply and have the reply box come up.
In reply to ditchdigger:
Yep. It certainly is slow here; partly from the DNS change but also partly from creating new caches. It will get better, but I'm still sorry it sucks in the meantime.
In reply to Tom Heath:
Hey, I'm not wasting time, I'm rebuilding caches!

Thanks for a "why"- any idea how long it will take to speed back up again?
I conducted a Google search of GRM and none of the 'archived' threads would open from Google. The "Internet explorer cannot display webpage" page popped up. All of the current threads that resulted opened without issue.

Guess what? Mine STILL hasn't had the DNS refresh yet.
I'm employing much black magic to get on the boards today.
Really depends on how often the upstream DNS server refreshes - I could get at the boards from home yesterday morning after I prodded my own DNS server, but it wasn't working from work all day.
Some DNS (IIRC that includes the Google DNS servers) are really, really slow to refresh even when you push a zone change.
I'm hoping I can get my fix at work today .
And the CM site is very pretty. http://classicmotorsports.net/
Mine wouldn't even work with ipconfig /flushdns...
Ended up having to edit the System32 "host" file in notepad to force the correct IP to the web address.
Strangely, i still can't get to www.grassrootsmotorsports.com but at least i can get on the forums. I just have to get there through Google.
