This was in my facebook feed today.  Is it great or is it as one of the people that commented over on facebook said "A 944, a 928, and a Panamera had a drunk threesome."

I like it.  If it had a real manual I would be all in.

Yes, I like it also and yes it does look like a mash up of the three models mentioned.

Ooooooohhh, I quite like this.

I'm assuming this is a fan creation, but it looks spectacular. Somehow it seems like it is not quite finished, but it is really good.

Indeed, this is a fan render from a Brazilian artist. This is actually their vision of a new 928.

I don't love it but, alas, it's not anything Porsche is actually making anyway.

It's the only thing I've seen where the 992 style tail lights actually kind of make sense. Other than the wheels sticking out about 3" too far I like it.

I would go to a more retro wheel style and cut the wheel width down some. Put the power to weight somewhere reasonable. Keep it a sports car and not a super car.  0-60 in say 5-6 seconds with a focus on proper gear ratios and a LSD of some sort and prioritize handling. Maybe offer the trim levels as the 944, 968 and the 928 as the top of the line car. And yes offer an electric version as well.

Sounds like you want a BRZ

That is the car it should slot in with.

I mean this is all hypothetical and this car will never exist, but uh...it would never slot in with the BRZ because it would cost twice as much. So hamstringing the car to the same performance level that they were at 30+ years ago with the original 928/944 turbo makes no sense. Plus if this did exist it would be a restyled two door panamera, so it would just use those engines. At this point 5-6s 0-60 is at the slow end of sports car. Super car doesn't really start until sub-3s.

Not bad, the front also reminds me of a Mitsubishi FTO. Too bad Porsche wouldn't make the "mistake" of producing a performance bargain again...I'm sure if they made something with Toyobaru-level performance it would have near-Boxster pricing.

Why not have it be of similar performance of a BRZ?   How about making it at the level of the last gen Boxster?   And since this is hypothetical why all of a sudden assume it will be a hacked down Panamera.  We can put what ever motor we want in it.   If we must go Panamera offer it up with the a detuned v6. But you have the whole VW line to play with and some sort of 2.0l turbo 4 would be fun.

What about a AWD option?   Offer a Baja version.  Now that would be fun.  Not sure they would sell any in the real world but in my mind it seems like a good idea.

In reply to GameboyRMH :

Ya the Porsche tax is a tough thing. They are so afraid of cheep-inning the brand that they will probably never offer a entry  price car again.   What is a base boxster selling for new these days?

In reply to dean1484 :

I think the reason BRZ buyers are ok with BRZ performance is the low entry price. Porsche isn't going to water down their "brand" by playing in that plebian ball park. I don't even think Audi wants to be in that price range anymore. That's VW's market in the hierarchy.

At a minimum, I'd expect our theoretical front engine/RWD coupe to be priced like the new Supra/Z4, which is also an upscale, sport focused RWD coupe. There's probably just not much business case for BRZ performance with Supra pricing. Nobody wants to pay $50k+ for a Porsche that handily trails a bunch of $35k cars in performance.

They start around $62k and go up quickly from there. Certain trim levels of Boxster/718 are now starting at 6 figures

Nobody's paying $60k for a sports car that's slower than an f150. The BRZ and miata work because they're cheap, and even then there's a decent group of people who complain about them being slow. Yes it's all hypothetical but if this car actually existed and you want it to cost under $100k it's going to need to be based on an existing platform. Porsche hasn't made anything in the sports car segment (or maybe at all) with >6s 0-60 time in over a decade and have zero problems selling as many cars as they want, I can't imagine why they'd go backwards now.

It also makes me think a bit of mk4 supra aswell

I just realized what I think it looks like. It looks like someone gave Nocones a Panamera, and told him to make a 928/944 out of it over a weekend in his garage with cardboard.

That is not at all an insult to either the car or Nocones.

Depending on which F-150 you are talking about, pretty much every 2 seater/2+2 under $60k is slower.

But point made.
