I've owned an 81 Celica with the solid rear axle. I thought the chassis dynamics were very nice but because the car's heavier, it came with power steering. The power steering, to my taste, really killed feel and precision. I've also driven later IRS Celicas and thought they felt rather heavy. 22R is a good engine and they take to boost well, but in stock trim I prefer the 2/3TC stuff.
