I will go ahead and pull on the flame suit and post these that I have always found distasteful
Second ones can definitely look trashy, first ones, they're not pretty but they're not ugly either IMO. They're plain utilitarian wheels.
Awwwwww, really? I'm getting ready to put some on my trailer.

Yo mama said you ugly, you UGLY!
You are wrong and should feel bad for being wrong.
Then again, I also like their predecessors so my taste is probably suspect
These on the other hand... yeesh. Noticeably convex wheels make me sad.
Also, it takes a special kind of person to say, "yeah, these are going to look freaking sweet on my truck".
The worst. Also made worse by how much of the wheel well they don't fill. Yuckers.
we seem to be in agreement. 3 spoke wheels = bad.

I couldn't remember the name of that one so I didn't want to go searching for hours but that is the first one that popped into my head. Oddly enough I see that truck wheel on a lot of late 60's mustangs around here
Another suggestion for the list is the American Racing Estrella
Not sure why it rubs me the wrong way. It isn't terrible in and of itself but I have never seen a car with them that I didn't think "Get those off it immediately"
And my final thought is any flat black wheels. They all look like this too me
Just a vague black hole in the wheel wells.

There are a few exceptions to this: Saabs and the early Dodge Vipers come to mind.
To Matt:
I do like the other Corvette "sawish wheels"!, but you may relate; that these look like a hot stripper wearing bowling shoes.
Nothing uglier than a bowling shoe.

i think its hilarious when i see a set on craigslist for $400, or someone is trying to trade them straight up for a set of wheels that actually looks good. Sorry guy, no one wants your E36 M3ty wheels.
I always hated the stock wheels from my Spec V. Fortunately, the crappy local roads obliged, bent one beyond recognition and allowed me to convince SWMBO that new "shoes" were in order. As a nice side bonus, they were heavier than boat anchors in addition to being ugly.
Pretty much any Saturn wheel ever.

No way! I think those are about the best E46 wheels other than the M wheels. These are pretty bad though.
And I think the slots and turbines look good on custom vans, but that's about it.
But I'm in total agreement with everyone else about three spoke wheels. They are the absolute worst. Ever.

Apologies if that car belongs to anyone on here, but NO WHEEL can fix Teal.

BOOOO. That is all.
Cragars look nice for about 5 minutes.
Then the chrome starts peeling.
I'm sick of Torque Thrusts on everything.
My Cragars are about 15 years old and still look good. Chrome is holding up well.
Here's my contribution to the no 3-spoke wheels. This has all the qualities of a 3 and a food processor all in one.
I'm not sure if this qualifies as three spoke ugly or six spoke ugly.
Jumping on the hate for 3 spoke wheels:
The TRX wheels on the early Foxes.
But, I do like the tri-bar wheels on the 94-98 Mustang GTs:
