Here's a side profile of a Galant VR-4 to compare
Basically a Galant VR-4 with a liftback. Except the later Japanese "Evolution" spec had 4 bolt rear with clutch lsd, 16g, and 240hp stock.
This car hits all the numbers for me. Weird looks, 80s liftback, good stock components where I don't feel the need to upgrade anything, etc. The liftback on the sedan looks really weird-cool to me and it is more of a sweeping design.
These, in evo spec, become legal to import next year.
Over there they have a stripped down version of the regular Galant VR4 called the RS that is quite a bit lighter. Same "evo" spec available in that.

Ya had me until here, "good stock components where I don't feel the need to upgrade anything", this does not compute

lol well what I mean is a US spec Galant VR4 has a 14g 195hp and some weak components. This car is pretty much already what people who own a US VR4 would upgrade to.
I would have no problem running this car with a tune taking full advantage of the stock turbo, maybe suspension upgrade or rather a refresh and be done. Wouldn't really need to upgrade the intercooler or supporting components for that.
My skyline for example I need a few major upgrades to be happy with it.

It's a 4g63. You can upgrade them with bailing wire and a stick of gum and make another 100hp. They're SBC's but with Japanese written on them. Why WOULDN'T you upgrade?
That whole five door liftback is SUPER legit though. And AWD? YES PLEASE.
Damn that's cool, I had no idea these existed until now. Now I want one.

Yes, yes please. In red, with black wheels
My mom bought a 1990 Galant new just as I entered high school. It wasn't the VR4 but it was a fun car for a new driver to borrow occasionally. One night I came up to a light in town next to one of the well-known seniors in his 4bbl 350 Chevelle. I and a couple my sophomore friends were in mom's Galant. He revs and says "hey, you want to race?" I clicked the "Power" switch on the trans and said "sure." When the light turned he hammer dropped and made a huge show of burning the tires. I just took off for all I was worth and beat him to the next light. He was furious and started yelling about a rematch. I told him no way, I won in a fair race and he would just have to suck it up.
It would run 120 mph with enough room. At night. Without the headlights. On bald tires.
Ahh memories.
After a decent head on collision a few years later the car was repaired but suffered an immense amount of electrical gremlins.

weak components, you ignore your technician.I put 200.000 miles on a ten year old FREE one.
Apparently these Eternas are unicorn status. I asked my importer about them and he's said not only has he never seen one but there is no dealership with them nation wide and there was no auction for them in the past 3 months. He said Galant VR4s in japan by themselves are rare as well.
Apparently they seem to be popular in Australia and New Zealand. The only ones I can find for sale globally are there.
