but I'm worried about parts availability what with Suzuki's departure from the American market. There's a 2013 available locally (with a CVT--blech!) but it's a one owner car with about 130K in my price range. Depending on rear seat legroom it checks most of my boxes.
What does The Hive think?
Always liked the way they look, but I would be seriously concerned about parts, especially with a CVT. As a weirdo project, sure, but I'd be skeptical as to suitability for daily use in the long run.

I agree with all of this.
For things like this I usually open RockAuto (who has an easy to use parts catalog) and look for common things. Rock Auto often buys out "left over parts." Take this to mean, if you cant find it here, it will be hard elsewhere also.

Things I quickly noticed not available, CV half shafts. CV boots are available but not the joint itself. CV's are usually remans (read as "used") so as cars disappear from the road, so does the flow of parts being rebuilt.
Alternators: 5 listied brands and 2 out of stock
Struts are readily available, but for Front Strut Mounts of 4 brands, One is out-of-stock, two are only-2-remaining
I once drove one with a factory turbo setup. Didn’t make production, though.
Cool car but, yeah, parts availability?
How many did they sell in total in the US? Totally guessing, but did they even hit 10k?

1600 for that model year.

You know, can’t remember the last time I saw one in the wild.
I see these all the time. Wichita had the last Suzuki dealership in operation for the car side and I think they were pretty good at getting people financed. These cars still look good to me. I actually doubt there's much of a parts issue with these based on the ownership experience with my '11 SX4.
No opinion on the CVT but of the few I've driven I don't think I would want one. That said I haven't driven a CVT equipped car in years so grain of salt with that. Would be good to discuss with actual owners of these cars instead of having to make assumptions.
Didn't they also offer them with a manual?

Yes. Probably the same not-awesome/not-horrible 6-speed as used in the SX4 mk1 facelift cars.
