This is perhaps the best $10 I've ever spent on tools

No, you should not try to do an entire car with this kit. It's just not designed for it. But I will say that for doing spot rust repair (quarter panels, roof rack mounting points, rocker panels) this thing is AMAZING!

Pair it with a good face shield and a decent respirator and I must say. This is the best $10 I've ever spent.

Wire wheels and flap discs have a horrible time actually removing the deep rust. They can take care of the brown crap on the outside, but if you don't get it to bright shiny metal the rust always comes right back. A spot that would have taken me hours to get to the point of shiny metal now takes me about 1 minute.

The only other tool I bought that was a better deal was my 1/4"x20tpi tap and handle I paid $3 for.

I'm trying to understand how it recycles the blasting media, do you hold the nozzle flush against the work area?

Yes, it's kind of hard to describe. The blaster nozzle sits behind the nozzle that is visible. There is space around it to allow the media to bounce back into the bag. It doesn't recycle 100% but it does extend the life of your media significantly.

The recycling works best on vertical parts, like a fender. It doesn't work so well on horizontal parts, like a roof.

I think I need one of those. I assume you are using this in open air outdoors, and not in a cabinet? If so, yeah, how is it recycling anything? Either way, not a huge deal, media is usually pretty cheap.

Edit: missed the last post, sounds better than a full loss sort of gun anyway. I think I will pick one of these up in the next few weeks, I can think of several jobs where it would really come in handy.

I'd be more interested in this gun for making less of a mess than recycling.

Not going to lie, it does make a mess. But much less mess than a total loss system for SURE.

If I put half a cup of media in it, it could last me for a 4"x4" spot... if the panel was vertical (like a fender).

I used it today to remove all the rust from under my roof rack, and around the top edge of my windshield! I even got started on my rusty quarter panel.

I don't understand why it's $10. I would buy it again if it were $50.

They also work great if the little lady wants some dermabrasion...

Actually it 'cleaned up' part of my hand when I pulled the trigger by mistake.

That does look very interesting. I can think of several applications for it already and for just $10 you can hardly go wrong. Thanks for the post.

So is this something you could use on say a valve cover or intake manifold? I've got some stuff I need to clean up and I'd spend 10 bucks to save me a TON of time.
