I read the article.. Why wouldn't the EPA just make owners sign over a document making them fully liable for bodily harm that could be caused due to unsafe side impact protection, and the emissions testing would be simple if it passes it gets a reg, if it don't it dont get to be reg'd

I remember reading about Motorex. However, while they federalized some of the R33 cars, that doesn't mean all R33 cars are US legal - they just figured out what has to be done to the cars to convert them. Any new R33s arriving from out of the country still have to be converted so they meet EPA and DOT requirements.

Well, yes, obviously they have to be converted. There's an entire process that any imported 25- car has to go through, and usually only by a licensed importer. Once it's in and converted it's fine though. I was just pointing out that the 96-98 R33 is the only one that can do even that. This car technically cannot.

lol, that might work if our gov actually used logic in making decisions.

i think he's asking too much even if it is federalized, and way too much if its not.
