There are some tore guys here I think, I need knowledge!
Retread vs remolded tires.
My knowledge :
Retreads have the tread ground/buffed, a glue of some sort and the new tread laid on, then are cured
Remolded have the tread ground/buffed, new virgin(or mix) rubber applied and are cured in the tread mold itself.
I had a bad experience with tread squirm on a set of what I believe were retreads. Will remodeled be better? Ok on Steers?
For your reading pleasure. At least a little background. From what I remember, Commercial trucks could only use Recaps on the the non steering wheels.

Yes I have seen that one, seems like a much better process than a 'cap'.
Having worked in the trucking industry for a time we did use recaps and retreads. If done correctly they all will hold up to whatever a new tire will. Yes, it's illegal to use re-caps etc. on steer tires. In my company we used recaps only on trailers as they are not subjected to the same forces as drive tires are.
Most blowouts you see on the highway are due to the tires being under inflated or just plain old.
In my part of the country the main culprit are container chassis. They get shipped around and no one does any kind of regular maintenence on them.
A good core is key to have a good re-cap. Using to old of a core can result in a tire more likely to blow out, etc.
Me and my girlfriend rock 225/85r15 recaps on our winter beater with a aggressive tread pattern. I have put 50K on my set with zero issues
For street car buy new. For race car there are some good re-cappers out there but you don't really save enough for me to risk it, but some offer things like camber built in to the tire where rules limit you.

So how does the "remold" compare to the recap/retread. It seems like a much better process?
After watching a couple of how-its-made type videos on Youtube, I'm thankful I don't retread tires for a living. Looks like a lot of ways to get injured.
