So I was browsing amazon the other day and came across a replacement K-Type thermocouple tire temp probe for $44 CAD, I quickly realized you could use one of these with most multi-meters to get proper tire temps. Even though I have a few meters I'm not going take my $500 Fluke to the track and risk losing it so I picked up a cheap meter (with temperature setting and a Min/Max/Hold function so it will hold readings), this meter also came with a grey adapter so the probe plugs directly into it. The bonus here is you aren't carrying around a device that just reads temps but also comes in handy for any electrical troubleshooting. The probe arrived today and looks pretty good, the tip does measure a bit bigger than spec'd at 1 mm x 5.5 mm but I don't think that will be a problem.

There's still enough room for a small paper pad and pen so I think I'll throw that in there to complete the package and take notes.
I'm still a month or so away from hitting the track to fully test it out but I think it should work well. I'm planning on doing a comparison between it and my IR temp gun as I've always been curious how much of a difference there actually is, I'll post that here once it happens.
