Kenny's also sliding around way too much to set a good time, but I'll allow it.

Yeah, nice to see autocross get some love. Thanks, Tire Rack.

Like others, I was thinking to myself "dude, you would gain so much time if you'd actually keep that ass end under control."

Still loved it.

My buddies Red FRS is in there someplace. I think I saw a glimpse of it in the first 10 seconds of the commercial.

Pretty good stuff though

I love autox when I set a good time but I may love autox even MORE when I have a fantastic time hooning around the cones. In our club we call that "style-cross" . . .

that was my first thought … and I still think so …

but Kenny acts like it's a drift event not an autocross, plus he's wearing an open face helmet in a convertible, with no eye protection …

so good to feature a-x, but I'd have thought that TR would be able to do a better job of portraying our sport

It's a TV ad...they have to be sliding the cars around, it's the rule. Just like how streets are always wet in street car ads.

I thought it was a commercial about the Honda S2000 superior road handling skills.

I can't think of many of my fellow competitors in open top cars that wear full face helmets.

I've autocrossed an open-top car for 9 years without a closed-face helmet. Won a few times, too.

Picking nits aside, that was pretty dern good. A bit of humor and tire smoke are welcome 'round these parts as far as I can tell.

Plus whatever number this is. I always wore an open-face helmet autocrossing my Miata. It has a windshield....

I think, for the purposes of the commercial, they wanted to be able to show the guy's face.

Only if it's bright and sunny. It's OK to admit when you're wrong. There's nothing wrong with that. Heck, even I do it once in a while.

It's definitely a TV thing. I can't count how many times I have yelled at the TV during Top Gear (US and UK) about them not wearing a seat belt, let alone a helmet during their escapades.

Closed course, proffesional driver, blah blah blah

I've seen Spoolpigeon take that line in his S2K a couple times ;)

I wear an open face helmet in my miata as do most people, now a car with no windshield requires a full face for obvious reasons, also it's a commercial, don't overthink it.

I really wasn't advocating a closed face helmet as much as I was eye protection …

I drove a CSP Miata a couple of times … ended up with a lap full of sand/tiny gravel after each run … the first time I drove it I was wearing an open face with sun glasses … the beard and face were peppered with this stuff … glad the glasses were wrap around …and it stung like hell

the next time I had my full face, and the face shield did show the effects of the sand/gravel …

that was my point in my criticism
