Some of the tires discussed are still available from Coker Tire but at a much higher price then back in the day.

I seem to remember the Eagle GT as being rather difficult to recover once it broke loose. Of course, my driving was a lot suckier 30 years ago...

Yeah, Radial T/As were a lot more forgiving, but they always felt kind of mushy to me. Then again, that could have been the factory 100k-plus mile suspension on my 85 Accord....

Considering that it sounds like a reissue of a 1981-spec tire, and not a new tire that looks like a 1981-spec tire, I would say that compared to most modern tires, it's not too impressive in a performance-regard.
I doubt they are using old rubber formulation. Should stick pretty close to its wear rating though.

The site is peppered with obnoxious click bait. Even worse they have people writing articles with very little technical knowledge of automobiles. Their writer's ignorance leads to some hilarious errors that are often corrected by reader comments. On top of all that the level of spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors is shocking for folks who write for a living. It's almost the anti-GRM.
