I'm bored. Driving the d-max as a daily driver sucks.

This thing is amazing though:

The only thing it doesn't show is the passenger side rear taillight is smashed and the rear valance is pushed in a bit due to a hit and run. All mine for $2300. I'm pretty committed to buying it at this point, but I wonder if I actually should... went and test drove it, while it definitely does not have the claimed "180hp" (LOL!) it moves for a 3tc. Much faster than a stock 4age or 3tc. I'd put it at Civic SIR territory (the 1999-2000 coupes with 160hp) which is pretty damn good. Transmission shifts like a dream and there isn't a spot of rust!

nothing quite like one... especially if it drives well.

Remember there are no electronic overides... with 160hp it is easy to get it going sideways.....

oh... and it can carry just about anything........

Finding body parts isn't as easy as it once was.... in your case make sure you get the correct tail lamp.. although they look like the other body styles (coupe, and hardtop), all three use unique tail lamps.

Yes! Yes! The only regret you will have is NOT getting this. Great looking car.

Do it. They're tons of fun, and the die hards can point you toward a tail light assembly. I might be able to help if all else fails.

That is the plan... not that I condone street shenanigans

Going to look at it again tonight with a friend, if it is all good, deposit gets fired off to the owner (he's working up north, he'll be back next week, his brother is showing it). The car didn't have insurance, but the guy's brother has a dealer plate and will be there tonight so I can take it for a bit more than a "spin around the block".

1850$ usd? You can hardly buy the side drafts for that (and tuned) buy it for the parts at least. Once it's rumple-fugly, pull the useable parts and transfer to your next Toyota. Like a starlet. Or a Celica.

Hi temp is in Alberta, so it would be $1850 CAD.

A rear wheel drive, light weight Toyota, from arguably their heyday, and it has a side draft? Not to mention the liftback? If you got the cash and the space, just go and get it!

Did you see OldSkwelToy's 'rolla?

Went and took the car for another drive last night with dealer plates, was able to go on the highway this time. Besides typical looseness in the suspension/steering (I take this to be more 35 year old car + old-ass suspension/steering design), a couple of questionably inflated tires, and them being out of balance, the car was great. And even with 700lbs of people in the car (owner, my friend, and I) it still hauled ass. AND THE SOUND, OMG THE SOUND. I rev'd it out to what I imagine was around 6k-6500rpm by ear (tach doesn't work with the msd ignition).

So I put a deposit on it. Money is a little tight this paycheque due to work expenses taking forever to get paid out, but I made it happen. I am excited

I might need the help The SR5's in USDM trim had chrome bezels around the outer edge of the taillights, as you can see in the pictures. Additionally, the turn/brake/reverse lights are different on them then in other markets.

I can get cheap repro's off ebay from thailand, but I don't mind a little chrome.

I wonder how they figure 180 HP from a 3-TC with headers and ITBs. Factory that motor was rated for something like 75. Mine with a header, no cat, free flowing exhaust and a Weber carb was a healthy little thing but was probably more like 100 hp.

It did pull right past redline with the breathing mods iirc (this was 1989).

"Because, bro, like, we did work on the car bro. It also appraised at $8k last year, its a sweet deal bro."

The guys are nice enough, but they are car scene people, not enthusiasts. I doubt it even has 160hp or even 140hp, I just think the lightweight makes it feel faster than it is. It moves though, let me assure you of that

Maybe with a lot of headwork and a cam?

as far as suspension goes... most of the AE86 stuff fits... The stock E7 brakes are a bit inadequate with anything over 100hp - solid front rotors.

AE86 front brakes/suspension can be used, but do to design change in the strut angle, you will automatically have + camber (not a good thing). This can be "fixed" with either adjustable camber mounts for the struts, or adjustable lower control arms. You MIGHT be able to get away using another Toyota LCA... but sometimes its easier to go with something adjustable

Early Cressida arms are the longest, I used them on my KE Corolla with AE86 struts and brakes.

Who are you and how do you know my location??!

But yea, me to. That's the biggest reason I bought it, I would have paid $2300 if it was completely stock... just so CLEAN.

I think tightening up some of the bolts on the intake should help it run a bit better, definitely some maintenance to be done
