Got a 2000 outback, and am wondering if towing a 500# trailer will be an issue. Trans was flaky when I bought it but a fluid change and trans X dose has resolved everything. This is not really a grassroots type issue but the knowledge on this forum on keeping old cars alive is excellent. BTW towing a Hobie mirage tandem kayak/sailboat. My new addiction.

Do it. The 4EAT is pretty tough. If it starts to act up then stop and look into it. 500 pounds isn't a lot of weight.

Rated for 2k lbs towing - should be fine.
