+1. I think it's because of the extended wheelbase. They should've kept it the same as the coupe, which would've made production a more realistic possibility as well.

Also the Veloster has the same obnoxiously high loading height, but at least the hatch opening extends forward quite a ways.

The wheelbase is exactly the same, actually. The only changes are from the B-pillar back, above the chassis.
I like the idea quite a bit but feel like they could have styled the liftgate/rear end significantly better. Would have looked great had they taken more cues from Volvo and used much more glass back there.
Neat, but as long as it has the Subaru engine of questionable reliability I'm out.
I'll take the veloster turbo-R. And wth the money saved add a mechanical LSD.
Huh I considered that the extended wheelbase could just be an illusion, but after seeing the pics in the article I was convinced it had to be at least 6" longer than the coupe...it's a powerful illusion that I can't un-see.
Not a fan of the look, but might be interesting if they used the roofline to scoot the back seat back a bit more and make it more kid friendly.
Lose the silly wrap around fake rear window and I'd say it's better looking than the coupe it's based on.
As the world's biggest Wagon fan, there's something not quite right about it. Contrasting design at the front and rear or something.

I think I agree with you. I'll tell you this though: I think I would buy a gasoline only, RWD CT200 right now and I might not even look at the MSRP.

Perhaps. A Veloster, C30 or CRX-style back end could all look good on it. The Evoque-like rear window setup hardly even looks good on the Evoque.

And FWD...
I agree the rear window is stupid.
Now THAT'S a rear window.
