The Craigslist ad has been flagged, but here's a link to the build.......
http://bangshift.com/blog/cool-build-the-madmen-at-autofab-race-cars-are-building-an-ls1-prius.html...... and the Facebook page..

The ad may be a scam. There is a build thread for the same car out there. But, the car exists !
So could you still drive that in the HOV lane?
My mind just exploded. That's even better than sticking a supercharger and scoop out of the hood of a BMW!
Even as a member in good standing in the Sierra Club, I can appreciate the allure of a V8 Prius.
Love it, but no finished under hood or interior pictures?
Flagged.
Why you no copy and paste.
So it was a V8 Prius? I was expecting something that rolls coal
I edited the original post.
if I had a Prius I wanted to have "fun" with.. I would go completely electric and set it up to simply scream from stop light to stop light. Just imagine the looks on unsuspecting ponycar owner's faces

Yup, because it would never work to take a lightweight fuel sipping body and shove more engine in it.
(Note: the second pic was previously used by Alan Caesar in the what cars will never be raced thread)
FWIW, taking a lightweight body and shoving more engine in it than sane people think it ought to have is perfectly reasonable, fun, and is the entire basis of hot rodding. It may not be successful, and probably WON'T be cost effective, but that's not really the point of a hobby.

Not true since the owner probably likes the Prius. And even if the owner didn't like the engine swap, they could take it out and put it in a better car.
But it did look like the steering wheel and steering column may need to be relocated. The floor also looks like it would be cramped when putting the new pedals in it.

exactly what I am talking about! Imagine that in a Prius
Im doing this eventually, with a 500 cube Cadillac Eldorado engine/trans, in the back. Wheelstanding sleeper Prius.

I guess if going straight for a few seconds is your thing, you are correct that it could make a decent drag race car. The chassis is still crap for anything else. I like hot rods but I'd at least start with a nicer looking car than a Prius.

I wonder how one could build an electric Challenge car and do that? Just to surprise Andy Nelson.
