After spending the evening celebrating my son's 21st birthday at the Tilted Kilt, Vince and I departed 5 minutes ago to drive to Daytona.
In the first mile our score is Black van 1, possum 0.
This could be an interesting ttip

We got here at about noon. We rented a Camry to bring the in laws down and have to take them to Orlando tomorrow. Aside from skating through a large accident on an icy bridge in Jersey Sunday morning and then doing about 40 mph into Delaware it was an uneventful ride.
I'm starting the trek tomorrow. Stopping at a friend's near DC tomorrow night. My dad is meeting me there Wed. a.m. and we head out arriving sometime that evening. Looking forward to meeting a lot of you!
Phil
We're not leaving until after Dad closes down his store on Wednesday evening, so it'll be a long night! I'm psyched, though: Other than the Challenge and Auto-/Rally-X, this is actually my first auto racing event.
I am getting psyched as well. We are leaving later tonight and plan on getting into town sometime Wednesday afternoon. I am also entertaining the thought of slipping out of work a bit early to get the last preparations complete. Then it will be "south-bound and down..".
We are at the host hotel on S Atlantic, my cell 4one9 two0three fortyfour22
Had lunch with TRoglodyte and the GRM youth crew today
So far, Inlet harbor, Hibachi Grill, Charlie Horse, Dixie Crossroad and Peach Valley, all of these are amazing but so far the winner by a narrow margin is Dixie Crossroad by a rock shrimp
Wow what a event, we hung with the RS1 crew for 2 days and damned if they didn't win the ST class, woot.
Chatted with Dean Case, Randy Pobst, met some drivers, watched a fantastic Conti race and spent time with the GRM crowd in my down moments
Spent time with, Wbjones, CGlockRacer, Coolhandluke, Wally, the Geo team from $2014 and many more.
Walked about 20 miles and even hugged the winning drivers, then consoled the drivers of car 18.
And the 24 hasn't even started yet
Glad you and Vince are having a good time!!!
Wish I could be there, but on the bright-side,I have clearance from my German overlords for the Mitty this year.
In reply to grafmiata:
That will be awesome too, we will have a blast.
In other news, the main event starts today
What a day, in the GRM tent resting and waiting for food.
0800 on track in a GT3 for a hot laps ride along.
Walked and chatted to so many people.
Met several drivers and crew members.
Our RS1 buddies invited us to Sebring
Got passes to go behind the wall and into the hot pits.
Hung out with the legends that are the GRM staff.
Benchraced and may have started my next project.
Race is only 4 hours in...
Yesterday was the remainder of the race, Vince stayed up all night, I went snd got warm, sleep and a shower, old is a fact of life.
Got back at 8am, watched the race wind down, helped our with the dismantle of the GRM facility then when the chaos died down we went to the Kona Tiki Bar, beers, hamburger and a pretty bartender made for a good time, much hilarity ensued.
Back to the motel by 10.30 and sleep.
Easy start and back on the road.
Quick fix at Jacksonville around 1.30, wheel bearing was coming loose. Advance Auto couldn't offer us a jack but O'Reilly could and did, quickly swapped the outer bearing and back on the road.
