I am in the market for a replacement truck. I am looking for either a Ford 7.3L or GM Duramax diesel in a 250/2500 crew cab short bed 4x4 with less than 100k on it in "reliable as the atomic clock with no rust" shape. A manual trans would be preferrable but not necessary. Rubber floor and cloth seats are fine.
I see 10 of these trucks a day while I'm out driving around - they are common in traffic. ebay and craigslist are telling me I need a one way plane ticket to 1000 miles from here to find one and its going to be 20k+ - so where the hell are all the underpaid contractors in upstate PA buying these damn things?
137,000 miles. Tow package. Plow package. (Never been used for plowing) HD trans. Many other options. Normal wear & tear on vehicle. $13,000 or B/R/O.
Priced reduced to $10,000 or best reasonable offer.
Dwarf, before you ask, the GVW rating is 9,200 lbs.
This is owned by my employer and has a clean title ready for sale. Test drives are available Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. I can be available at other times if needed and I have the time. The truck is located a 3 Johnson Rd. Bow NH, 03304
Call 603-226-7296 for any questions.
Dwarf - I'll give you a call later today... I'm running around like chicken with my head off right now. I have to be up in Hartford, CT on the 27th so that actually might workout. Its probably only about 5hrs out of my way from there instead of 14
Whilst I'm waiting to call - what year and model?
Not mine! it was posted on a dirt bike site i go to.
purple, have you tried autotrader.com ? i occasionally look on there for almost exactly what your looking for, they are very rare. If you look out to pittsburgh, they are easier to find, but are a drive for you.
Andrew
Have you looked at the pre-03 (old sheet metal) Dodge's with the Cummins Turbo Diesel? They stomp all!
Duramax/Allison is tough to beat, but just dont like IFS in a truck. Sure do ride nice though. Low step in height is great also.
Seriously, after having a Ford, Dodge, and Chevy diesel, the Dodge is the winner.
Manual transmissions are pretty rare in these types of trucks, stripped interiors even more so. Most dealers only had the loaded-up models on their lots when they were new, I know because my friend was shopping for Duramaxes back in '03. Crew cabs are a jump up in price when compared with extended cabs, and the diesels are a huge jump up from the gas engines. I was looking at some '02 HD Extended and Crew cabs about a month back, and I found some for $8K with about 120-140K in mileage and the gas engines. Diesels with comparable mileage were much more expensive (like $14K).
I eventually postponed the search until the prices drop some more (or I can save up some more $$$).
