Well, it looks like the cheap 98 Civic EX sold while I was trying to make up my mind on the Y8 motor.
Back to making up my mind on the engine. B18 is still in the running. Would like to find a complete donor car. So, that will have some bearing on motor choice.
90-93 Integras come with the motor already installed, and a cheap and easy to find. Some folks point to the extra weight over Civic, but a lot of that weight is in the motor, so that part of the added weight is a wash.
That's interesting information to know as far as the weight difference.
The guy I'm buying the EF Hatch from claims that the D15 motor in the car only has 40K miles on it but that there is a wiring problem and the car won't start. He does claim it will roll start. He says it's a D15B. Doing some research shows that if it is indeed a D15B that it's a JDM motor and has about the same HP as the D16Y8. However, I don't think the guy knows anything about Hondas and am not counting on that being the case. My guess is that it's probably D15B1.
Either way if it does in fact only have 40K miles on the motor is there any use in turbo charging a D15?
It's interesing that E85 should be 85% ethonal, yet the tag on he pump says 70% minimun. Pretty wide variance if you ask me. I have a friend running E85 in a 3000GT with lots of boost (don't know how much excatly) he likes it.
E85 is approx 85% in the summer. They have to lower the Percent in the winter (to around 70%). Hence the label on the pump
There is a guy on Pelican that has boosted an otherwise stock 83 944 with am M90 that is running 18psi with NO inter cooler that runs on E85. Great car great build. I should ask him to join us over here.
