After nearly 10 years with its current van, a 2006 Ford E-250, Grassroots Motorsports is proud to announce the newest member of its fleet: a brand-new 2016 Ford Transit 250.
This van has a number of spiffy features requested by both readers and GRM's helmeted fleet of van pilots. Tom Suddard, director of van acquisitions, said: "This new van has …

Did not expect that.
And for once, I'm really familiar with that powertrain. I think the last GRM car that I could say that was Per's GTV, but this one is just a little closer...
Is the GRM series Transit body on frame? Do they share running gear / frames with the F-150's like the E-series vans of old?
The new Ford vans, like some of their contemporaries, feature a unibody.
But it still keeps the drive wheels at the correct end. Only thing I'd suggest is that you should have gotten the dually for better launch traction

So what does Gary think of his new ride?
These things are so much nicer to drive than Econolines.
If you guys don't mess with the boost after it's no longer the be-nice-it's-new van, though....
I'm lobbying hard for opera windows, shag, and a "Gasroots, Grassroots or Assroots, nobody rides for free" airbrush script on the side.
In reply to JG Pasterjak:
i assume there will be a sweet mural as well with dragons and lasers?
Will it be the baseline at the challenge for the van class...
Elwood:

Jake: "Fix the cigarette lighter."

Perfect. I am on my second econoline and am interested to see how GRM likes this one.

The freaky thing about these new vans is how forward the engine is. It looks like an old Audi under the hood. The engine is a lot more forward than the front-drive RAM vans.
Which height/length did you get?

Fixored.
Could we add a wizard/dragon themed airbrush mural?
They are impressive vans. Absolutely cavernous inside. A friend who is a carpenter just got an extended high-roof. Twin turbo too. Even loaded down with all his carpenter tools and roof rack full of ladders it's still a bit of a rocket at a stop light. Has surprised many unsuspecting fools.
