Can anyone tell me how to find out what the plugs going to the DME (ecu) go to? The second plug from the drivers side going into the top of the DME blows the 30a fuse that powers the TCM. Engine runs good and its the only thing electrical that we can find with a "problem" but it's a nightmare of wires to trace and just know what systems it powers or controls would be super awesome. It's a 99 528iT auto
Cheers and thanks,

Just a gut check here, is the TCM the short itself?
No. It pops the fuse with and without TCM in place and with 2 different TCMs

O2pilot I think that's what I needed, thanks! Anybody have any direct knowledge please post up
GM also uses an ecu called the e39, are they one & the same?
E39 is the chassis/model of BMW car. 97-03 5 series. Transmission is GM (US company) made by the French in France, for a German car (BMW) which is just looney toons to me.

That got me what I need, many, many thanks good sir
Mods, this can be deleted although I'm sure I'm not the only one that can benefit from that link

The pin out diagram from Newtis.com showed several different "modules" connected to the DME, module 2 has the same number of pins as the plug I narrowed the problem down to which is 75% o2 sensor relate. Found a rear o2 sensor wire that looked like the PO had rum over a tire tread or stick and pulled it a bit. Put it back in its proper orientation and everything works now. No fuses blow, no limp mode, trans shifts through all gears etc. My friend (who was a tech for the local Mercedes stealership for 22 years) was the one helping me and he said if I hadn't gotten the pinout from O2 pilot we may not have found it until the 2020 Challenge! Thanks guys
PS, I gotta go buy 2 more O2 sensors and it's ready to drive!
Glad the link helped. It's a pretty useful source for any modern BMW.
