Quick poll... How many of you still run a good old american V8?
I'm an old die hard and just realized I don't have one anymore. My Ranger is a 6 so that doesn't count, but does my Model A count for half?

Wife's Avalanche is still an iron block 5.3.... The 302 is still iron block'd as is the Hemi, but sadly both are on engine stands. OH! My F250 still has its all iron, 1100 pounds worth of International 7.3 turbo'd goodness between the fenders.
The MIL's Imp is only a v6, as with my Dakota, and the Ranger I have is motorless.
I've got a '67 Pontiac 326 in the garage. It went 190,000 before it ever had the valve covers off, and it's at 270,000 now with all the original pistons. Only had a bearing and ring refresh after the oil pump failed due to the infamous nylon timing gear issue.
Only in my pickup, too.. 454 powered C2500 though so it makes up for it with mass. I used to have three v8 American cars but they're all sold on... I do still have one v8 import though! And another on the way ... maybe!
I have a '61 Pontiac Bonneville, with a 348hp tripower 389ci engine and a four speed. Also, a '66 Ford F-100 with a 352ci engine and a four speed.
hate to say it.. I have never owned anything with more than 6 cylinders.. and that was a flat six.. 99% of my cars have been 4's
350 Chevy with 492 heads in my 79 GMC Dually
377 SBC in 81 Camaro with Victor Jr heads
I have had more than my share throughout the years, and will have more yet.
Only the 318 in the van...
I had a 289 in the Ranchero, but it only ran on six and a half.
Someday I'd like to try a fun car with a V8.
Myself, I have only had 2.0L I4s. Only V8 I have driven is the 4.7 in my Father's Dak. Once apon a time(2003) I almost bought a 4 door T-Bird with a 428.
C5 Z06 with a stock LS6. My average mpg since I've owned it has been 25.1mpg. Is it blasphemy for it to be tied as my favorite engine with the Yamahammer and 12A?

Had the same question. Though I think Bob's 5 cylinder corvette makes more HP than my first year 4.6L. :(
one in my truck and one shoehorned into the Fiero. Wish I had more....stupid insanely high gas prices.....
1994... Shortly after the 30th anniversary of the Mustang is when I sold my 70 Mach1 428SCJ.....
That was the last V8 I've owned... Oddly... ever since 1994, I've enjoyed nimble little cars with twin cam 4 bangers
I've only ever had two V8s and both were over 7 liters. Go big or go home :)
On the flip side, I've had a 2-liter, three 1.8s, and one 1.6l, and all of those were SOHC engines. And then there's the SOHC fiver.
Someday I'll have a mid-sized engine, maybe.
Not currently. I've had one: 5.0 Ford V-8 in a Mercury Cougar 1978. Ran fine, just wish the transmission had kept up as well.
I have two. I actually drove one to work today- my well-preserved stock '91 Cadillac Brougham. 5 liters of non-fury. I'll pull the family camper to the lake tomorrow evening with the other one- my '87 Suburban R1500 Diesel.
