Short answer = Yes
Still have my 82 Camaro, although its iron V8 is in need of some loving. Chev pickup, but its a 4.8 LS, so I don't know if that counts. Everything else is 4 cylinders. Not a 6 in the bunch....wait a minute- I just bought an XC90 to flip, and I guess I was driving a 5 cylinder 850 up until last week.
Does a super late model with a Chevrolet owned by someone else but driven by me count?
J Block wrote: Quick poll... How many of you still run a good old american V8? I'm an old die hard and just realized I don't have one anymore. My Ranger is a 6 so that doesn't count, but does my Model A count for half?
I have 2 running and a 3rd with its' SBF engine sitting on an engine stand awaiting it's install in the engine bay of something car-shaped.
1997 Yukon GT - 5.7l V8
I just sold my 1978 Corvette that I had swapped a big block chevy 454, bored and stroked to 496 cubic inches.
360 in the first ram, 318 in this one and a line on an industrial 413 that is more than likely going to be mine.
I have something else to drive next year my Ram might just get historic tags and worse mpgs.
1968 Ford Fairlane running a 351 Windsor as the summer cruising car.
1998 Chevy Camaro LS1/T56 as the everyday driver. Like the Corvette drivers I am averaging 23-24mpg with frequent hits over 30mpg on the highway. This engine is all al-lu-minium though.
Past V8s
1970 Chevy Malibu 307
1987 Grand Marquis 2 door 5.0
1991 Grand Marquis 4 door 5.0 HO (swapped)
Owned one the 350 in the GMC Rally Van, otherwise no other V-8's in my present or past. Drive a F250 with a 6.2 but it belongs to the state.
Currently:
390 cid pushrod FE big block in my 62 T-Bird, 346 cid pushrod LS1 in my 99 Camaro, 281 cid SOHC mod motor in my 95 T-Bird, 281 cid DOHC mod motor in my 57 T-Bird, 260 cid pushrod V-6 in my Supercoupe.
Currently, a Cadillac 429, a Chevy 5.3 and a Chevy 5.7 along with a Jeep 4.7. Two of them are still in the original carrying cases There's also a BMW 4.9 tucked into the mix as well.
Have never owned a V8.
Prior to last weekend, I'd only driven V8 power in trucks (4.8 in a Silverado) and a luxo-barge (4.6 in a Town Car). Underwhelming.
Sunday, I drove an LS1 Camaro. Now I'm jonesing for some V8 powah.
'67 Barracuda convertible has a 318 waiting to go in.
'68 Barracuda - 360
'73 Challenger - Currently 318, have 360 block & stroker crank for a 402 combo
'73 Road Runner - Original 440
'89 Shelby Dak - 318, have a 360 for future use
'96 Dak - 318 Maggie
'01 Ram Van - 318 Maggie - Might get a 360 when the 318 gets tired.
That doesn't count any spare engines, or potential swap candidates lying around.
I have a 283 sitting around the workshop and that is the only V8 I have ever owned. Hopefully that will change in the not to distance future.

OH GOD YES!!
This is not helping me stay away from holes in the water...

I only have one now, but I've had three others before - a C4 Corvette, big block Suburban, and a Ford 5.0. Just the 5.0, it wasn't in anything; it was sitting on a pallet behind Jim Downing's shop and waiting to be put into a Capri that was never finished.

Only thing I have these days with a V8 is my Trans Am. It is on "Time Out" right now because the V8 (a .060-over Pontiac 400) doesn't feel like oiling the top end right now.
I may be kinda odd man out on this. I've only own(ed) 1 V8 vehicle and I'm over 50. Always had 4 or 6-cylinder cars. Could never afford the vehicle that V8's came in and/or never found a vehicle that met my needs with one. The 95 F150 XLT Extended Cab I bought in 97 (and still have) is the only one. The truck is a factory tow package with 5.8 V8, AOD, cruise control, Sport Truck flares & running boards, captain chairs, center console. Basically my first non-base vehicle I've owned. My only other truck before that was a K5 Blazer with a 250 inline six in it.
Well, there was also the 74 Buick Apollo w/V8 I bought (cheap) to teach my Korean wife how to drive back in the early-80's but it only ran on half of the cylinders so it doesn't really count. Didn't really want it to run well to teach her to drive.
