Having a hard time locating many comparables so figured I’d get some opinions. Looking at a 72 vw bus, no interior , solid body, missing side sliding door. Basically complete restoration from ground up needed, I’m new to the vw bus world.

Any ideas are appreciated thanks

Is it a camper or just a bus? Camper adds a lot to the value.

Really top notch driver/local show early seventies buses have been hanging out in the high 30s and the campers closer to 50K. I personally think that what you described is not worth more than $1k because it needs so much IMHO. Really, it;s probably be better to use as a shell if you have a bus with bad body work.

No interior, no sliding door, no deal. IMO

They have dozens of small panels/crossmembers that all like to rot regardless of region.

Is the motor / trans in it ?

If USA model it would have the Type 4 motor , twin carbs and 1700cc.

Sliding door is not a big deal ,

Rust is just work , repair patch panels are available. Front floors are always rusted.

Probably bucket seats in the front , bench seats were normally on the panel vans ,

If you can drive it around the block it's worth 3k to 5k ,

If you have to rebuild the motor it can be 2-3x as much as a 1600cc bug based motor.
