Lof8 - Andy said:Ross is from SW Florida near me. His home track was 417 in Punta Gorda, where I've done a few circle track races. The whole area supports the guy and loves seeing him succeed wildly!
They just had a really good 100 lap late model race this past Saturday. About 90 laps of green flag racing, and a clean pass for the lead on the restart with about 10 to go.
Toss a couple skateboard wheels on the right side of the car and maybe he'd scoot past more people. Do the rules prohibit that?

There are differences, as some bumping is tolerated at short tracks, particularly for a win. Not using safety equipment is an odd argument, one if the reasons it's tolerated is because of the safety equipment. Cars, helmets, and improvements like the HANS device have made racing far safer than they were when Evans and Jarzombek were killed almost 40 years ago.
I agree but I am trying to illustrate the lopsided arguments. It was bad that bubba crashed someone on purpose because it was unsafe because they were at a "fast track". Well they all have elements of danger that's why they have safety equipment that is required everywhere, they don't loosen the requirement's on equipment so why loosen it on personal conduct? I agree that bumping is tolerated at a short track. Anyone who watched Saturday's shenanigans can't call that bumping. These are all just blocks in the wall of my logic why NASCAR created this mess, they let them do whatever the berkeley they want to and then are like oh no too far.. Well ok Bubba too far but winning a race and putting someone out of the championship by wrecking them on the last lap that's ok, then the next day someone does this (admittedly) crazy move and people are like no this is a "bad look" for the sport.
I also realize they are two different series and different situations here but if you don't enforce speed limits and then ticket someone for no turn signal it is hard to understand where the line is. I also realize NASCAR hasn't said anything about Ross's move yet, that I have seen.
Last thing I brought up the Richie Evans thing; 1- because this little old slow short track is where he got killed. 2- The modifieds they were running at that time were way too stiff and people were getting killed because the cars didn't give enough in crash's, sounds a little familiar right? I have been thinking that since Kurt's wreck.
This will probably be a one and done..

Also to Wally and Kevlarcorolla I apologize if I am overly combative about this. I don't mean to be and you both have good points about it. I found it interesting and that is why I keep talking about it. I appreciate you two and don't want to offend.

There's nothing combative about expressing a different opinion. I appreciate having a discussion with both of you and everyone that has serious thoughts about this instead of the usual nascar bad huh huh comments that follow.
I don't agree with what Bubba did, but I don't necessarily think the dump by itself was suspensions worthy. A lot of the pearl clutching was because it was him and not because of the action. Even then I suppose there'd be less issue with it if they were on the last lap for the win or a championship spot. The part that sealed his fate for a suspension was more going for a fight afterwards. Fighting is not tolerated anymore and neither is walking on the track since Tony Stewart ran that guy over with a sprint car.

Perhaps not.. https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/nascar-ross-chastain-riding-wall-legal-playoffs/10393847/ Shrewd move by NASCAR or have they well and truly jumped the shark?
Keep it legal, but remove every third tire pile between the inner wall and outer wall so it's difficult to use it to gain an advantage but still retains safety characteristics.
Or, screw it. Lean in and go full Mario Kart with wall rides, on track power ups, push-to-pass buttons (controlled by fans, naturally) and have every race be forced to leave the track at some point and finish at some giant W-shaped palm trees.
