Since you can drive virtually anything on the famed Nürburgring, why not try running an old Lincoln? According to the video’s description, the Lincoln lapped the track in a blistering 11:33—only slightly off the pace of the current record of 5:19.55 set by a Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo Le Mans Prototype.
What sort of “normal” car would you want to lap …

Hmmmm first thing that comes to mind is flog a Mini Van but Top Gear kinda put that to rest.
I'm thinking a small station wagon with 4-5 people on board.
I was expecting a Mark VII LSC. What was that, a Town Car?
I'd probably opt for the AMG S65.
Has anyone ran a modern Nascar on the Ring ?
We know they have the HP to run 200 mph , all they have to do is learn how to turn right !

It looks like plenty of people have done so virtually thanks to the wonders of iRacing, though at least one person ran a Late-Model at the Nürburgring a few years ago:
So maybe not what most people think of as a NASCAR Stock Car, but still interesting.
I'd love to run my own project around the 'ring. I do know there is quite a few LH's in Europe, I am unaware of any having made a lap around the 'ring at all.
A 2000 1.5L SOHC Alpha powered Accent sedan. All 90hp and 2200lbs.

I ran it in a Diesel TDI V6 Audi A4... To be fair it was snowing out so not optimal conditions. Fun and frightening at the same time.
I can't decide if I want to run the Ring or not. Videos like this make me lean towards the not side. The idea of passing someone who's driving with one hand and videoing with their phone with the is more than a little concerning. The idea that someone in a supercar could come up behind me while exercising the same level of care is even more concerning. I really prefer that those I share the track with have some level of training and a license to prove it.
I have zero desire to ride the tail of the dragon for the same reason. The fact that there's traffic in both directions and that high speed is technically illegal adds to the concern.

I think it would be fun to run a 1g or 2g VW Kombi around the ring. I'd be thrilled with anything sub 20 minutes.

I ran my Bay window around it ! OK we were with the Vintage VW club so everyone was pretty slow ,
Plus I think they closed it for our lap , because I do not remember any fast cars passing us :)
And no idea of the time because it was before anyone really cared !
I would LOVE to run the ring, but considering my first ever actual racing experience was... let's see... 4 months ago with you wackos, I may not quite have the proper experience. I'd probably die or kill someone trying.
I did run at the Bonneville Salt Flats.... in a diesel pickup towing an RV. I got all the way up to 60 mph before chickening out not knowing what was ahead.

my first thought - put the phone down and put both hands on the wheel.
Here is the "Nascars" complete lap that he posted a week ago ,
Now we need a current NASCAR set up for a road course Air Freighted over for a week.
and driven by Sabrina !

Non-racey folks on the ring keep the radio off and the windows down. You can't see folks close on you fast enough. All you can do is listen and get way off line. Had the E36M3 scared out of my by a couple of GT3's, nearly sucked my doors off on the way by.

With the amount of accident videos from there I have seen on YouTube, I can't see driving anything that didn't at least have a full cage on the ring.
I would want to run a unimog at the ring.

When its an "open day" do they have a minimum speed ?
I know when we went with the club in old VWs there had to be times when we were only doing 30 MPH uphill ,
I could get that Lincoln under 10 minutes.
