so i got a 96 volvo 850 wagon 150k auto 5cyl with a house i bought. it didnt run. the cam sensor was melted. replaced it now it runs. well i've done a bunch of work on it and sold it to a buddy.

now that its gotten hot the trans is acting up. i get the 'blinking arrow' and a S1 code. i flushed the trans (it needed it) and it still 'slipped' when it got hot. the electric fan didnt seem to be coming on soon enough so i ran a relay so its on high when the ign is on.

i also added a small GM transcooler infront of the ac condensor. i by passed the stock cooler in the radiator. the car was running great (it was 88 here today) give it back to my buddy he calls me 30 min later saying its blinking again. (he was running the AC?)

anyway. this is a definate heat issue. runs great when cool. how big of a trans cooler can i use? i was looking at AC condensers at pull a part to use as a trans cooler. any problems with that? if i can keep this trans cool it will work.
