I'm thinking of taking a jump from 60s technology to 80s technology and replacing my fairlane with a slightly less old Volvo 900 series. Its a toss up between a volvo wagon and a fox body wagon, but either way I think I'm going to want V8 power. Whether that power comes from a ford or a chevy v8 is still up for debate but I'm having trouble finding good information on volvo v8 swaps. Is there a forum or area that specializes in the 900 series or V8 volvos in general? I'm thinking a healthy 302 or 5.3L with a manual transmission would suit my needs pretty well. I want a quick summer cruiser with seats for all of my friends in an unsuspecting package.

I believe turbobricks.org has a sub-forum for V-8 swaps.
Jags that run has a Volvo swap book with some decent information too.
Not much v8 stuff for the 7/9 series. 240s have everything including jags that run. Thats not saying it cant happen or theres no info out there, there is but its not too much. I want to say someone was trying to make a subframe for the grandpa series. But if you want a v8 its obviously going to be a whole lot easier starting with a fox. Changing engine, trans, mounts, hell even the rear end needs to be upgraded they are major weak. Lots of 7/9 series info on turbobricks not much on v8 swaps though (its turbobricks noy lsbricks haha), use google to search the site their search engine is useless
Isn't a 9 series just a 7 series with IRS?
9 series is an updated 7 series body style and switch gear.
Anything you can do to a 7, you can do to a 9.
Don't pass up the turbobricks forum . . . There are a lot of V8 cars hidden in there.
Just as easy to swap a V8 into a 7/9. Dave Letterman has a pretty monstrous V8-swapped 960; if you look up the Seinfeld Comedians in Cars getting Coffee segment with Letterman they take it out for a drive.
