IT WASN'T me doing it.

Now I'm curious, you say that "with that cam"... what do you mean? I didn't go idiotic on cam choice, or I didn't think I did.
So the new kit has 6.5 power valves in it. According to the sheet on the carb it has 7.5 in there now. I think for now I'll leave the ones I have in there. Also leaving the jets as is.
something that I was thinking about.... what would too much fuel pressure do? I have an electric pump and an adjustable regulator but no gauge. I don't know what it's set at. If it's on the high end what would that do?
Blow past the floats, flooding the carb. Or, in minor cases, you can't adjust the floats low enough to get the correct level.
Fuel pressure tweaking is one of those final .5% tweaks to alter the fuel curve, because technically the fuel level in the bowls DOES affect the fuel mixture. Also, there is something to be said for large needle/seats and lower pressure, because the lower pressure makes the fuel going into the carb less violent (think filling a bucket with a hose at low pressure, vs. high pressure, and I can hear Curtis beaming with Q-jet superiority because they fill the bowls from the bottom so this is never a problem ). But this is all .5% stuff. Generally speaking, if you can get the floats adjusted, fuel pressure is fine.
Having spent most of my automotive life tuning SUs and Webers, with the odd Carter, my most interesting set up was Holleys on my 1965 British car:
Luckily I found possibly the last local sixpack guru to help me tune it. If you can find such an expert near you, it will save you a lot of time and possible frustration.
