My son & his friends are building this drift car out of a 240 found in a field & a donated '97 Suburban which has a bad trans. The engine is good. They have lots of nice drift parts & lots of 240 experience. Their wiring & injection skills are lacking so they begged me to help. I've done research on this spider injection & will be sending the pcm to brendan (lt1swap.com) to get the it modified to remove the egr, smog, vats , etc. Then will modify the wiring harness. The interior, lights etc are totally stripped. Will make a switch panel & just have minimal gauges.

They still need to find a manual trans but are leaning to an S10 that we have read is a good one to use. What years are the best? The friends dad has a huge used car business & has a couple of late 90's S10's with severe body damage that might have manuals. That's where they got the Suburban.

Is there a type of header will make it easier. Like Hedman block huggers? OR S10 shorty headers? Is there a front sump oil pan which works best? Looks like we also need to add an oil filter relocation kit.

Another friend of ours will be doing the motor mounts & trans mount. Are there weld in motor mounts available? We can make them if not.

the only front sump oil pan that GM ever used was in the Chevy 2's (Nova) in the mid 60's- which won't bolt up to the later vortec block because of the different rear seal configuration... not sure if there are any aftermarket front sump pans available.

i'm sure someone out there makes the parts to bolt a small block into a 240- Trans Dapt would be the first place i'd check.. but making mounts is easy..
